Ovarian Cancer Awareness is a reminder to know the symptoms and act early.

Symptoms can be vague and may include:

- persistent bloating
- tummy pain
- feeling full quickly
- needing to wee more often
- unexplained changes in appetite

If you notice ongoing symptoms that are unusual for you, itโ€™s important to speak to your GP. When discussing symptoms, let your doctor know about any family history of cancer, not just ovarian cancer and not only in parents or siblings, as this can help assess your overall risk.

Keeping up to date with cervical screening when invited is also an important part of protecting your gynaecological health. Early action can make a real difference. ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿฉบโœจ

During the month of February we had a total of 75 appointments in which patients failed to attend, or failed to give prior notice they would not be attending. This equates to around 19 hours of appointment time missed which could have been used by the practice.

We understand that it can be very difficult getting an appointment, especially with the growth of the surgery in the past 18 months. If you are unable to attend your appointment for any reason it is vital you inform the surgery as early as possible so these can be made available for those patients still awaiting an appointment.

Thank you for your understanding.

Colorectal cancer is a cancer that starts in the colon or re**um, which are parts of the digestive system. Unlike most cancers, colorectal cancer is often preventable with screening and highly treatable when detected early. Colorectal cancer may not cause any symptoms, especially in its early stages. Some symptoms might be due to other causes like haemorrhoids, diarrhoea, infection, or irritable bowel syndrome.

Brain Tumour Awareness Month shines a light upon this neglected condition. There are over 16,000 primary and secondary brain tumours diagnosed in the UK each year. There are over 80,000 people in the UK living with a brain tumour diagnosis and the impact it brings. It is a more common condition than you might think and yet it remains terrifying and mysterious to many.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Unpaid carers in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight โ€“ your voice matters

If you provide unpaid care or support to a family member, friend or neighbour who is disabled, has a long-term condition, illness (including addiction), or needs extra help as they get older, this short survey is for you.

They are asking two simple questions:

โœ” What is working well in Health and Social Care?
โœ” What could be better in Health and Social Care?

If you are aged 16 or over and live in Hampshire or the Isle of Wight, please take a few minutes to share your views.

๐Ÿ”— Take the survey here:

Please help spread the word by sharing this post so we can reach as many carers as possible. ๐Ÿ’™

Scarlet fever is a contagious infection that mainly affects children and can cause a sore throat, fever and a distinctive rash.

Early recognition and treatment are important to help reduce the risk of complications and limit spread. Community pharmacies can also offer advice on managing symptoms and when further medical care is needed, making them a helpful first point of contact for many minor illnesses. Knowing the signs and where to get help can support quicker recovery. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿฉบโœจ

The MMRV vaccine protects against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chickenpox) and is an important part of the childhood vaccination schedule.

If your child has missed any vaccines, or if you have recently moved to the UK from another country, it is never too late to catch up. The NHS offers free catch-up vaccinations to help ensure children and adults are protected and up to date. Checking your vaccination record and booking missing doses can help protect both your family and the wider community. ๐Ÿ’‰๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆโœจ
