Did you know tattoo colours react differently to laser… and here’s why 👇

Tattoo inks are made up of tiny pigment particles, and many of these contain metal-based compounds.

💡 Different colours = different compositions:
• Black – carbon-based (easiest to remove)
• Red – often contains iron oxide
• Green/blue – can contain copper compounds
• Yellow/white – more complex and harder to treat

This is why laser tattoo removal isn’t “one setting fits all” — each colour responds differently and may need different wavelengths and more sessions.

Black tattoo ink is the easiest to remove because it absorbs the full spectrum of laser light more effectively than other colours. Because black pigment absorbs rather than reflects laser energy, the ink heats and fractures into smaller particles, allowing the body’s immune system to gradually clear it away.

Factors such as tattoo age, ink depth and density, skin type, and individual immune response will still influence results, which is why personalised consultations are essential.

Laser hair removal works by targeting pigment (melanin) in the hair follicle.

Blonde hair contains very little pigment, which means the laser has nothing to target effectively.

This is why a consultation is always important — it allows suitability to be assessed properly and expectations to be discussed.

✨ How Tattoo Removal Works

When a tattoo is created, ink is placed deep into the dermis, the second layer of your skin.
Your body can’t remove these large ink particles on its own — which is why tattoos are permanent… until laser removal comes in.

During tattoo removal, a medical-grade laser sends short, powerful pulses of light into the skin. These pulses target only the ink, not the surrounding skin.

The laser energy causes the ink particles to heat up and shatter into tiny fragments.
Once broken down, your lymphatic system (your body’s natural waste-removal system) gradually removes these ink particles over the following weeks.

This process is repeated over multiple sessions until the tattoo becomes lighter, fades, or disappears.
