I find having a practise that aligns with the season really helps me adjust, to what is for many a harder time.

❤️ YOGA 4 THE PANGOLINS ❤️

Hi all! I am collaborating with African Pangolin Working Group (APWG), to raise donations and awareness for their crucial work in saving the most trafficked mammal in the world. The Pangolin. ❤️

I am bringing you 2 donation based yoga classes centred around the heart chakra.

1) Sat 23rd August - 9-10:30am - STOKES BAY BEACH (between Gafirs & Pebbles on the green)

2) Sat 6th September - 9-10:30am - ONLINE VIA ZOOM (link will be sent after registration)

These classes are designed around balancing and harmonising the heart chakra, anāhata cakra. The 4th chakra and the chakra of our emotions. A chakra is an energy centre in the body and we have 7 main chakras that run along the suṣumnā nadi (the main/central energy channel), from the base of the spine to crown of the head.

We shall explore:
🧘‍♀️ Metta (loving kindness) meditation
🧘 Heart opening āsana and preparatory āsana for back-bending. The element of the heart chakra is air.. so we shall practise with the element of air (light/flowing).

This class is open for all levels.. as long as you can practise a vinyāsa/Haṭha style of yoga. Being able to get up and down from the floor will be needed. We shall also be sitting for the meditation.. however, you can always lie down if sitting on the ground is uncomfortable.

I’m so excited for these classes and I hope we can get as many of us together as possible to bring all our energy together and support an amazing organisation, while practising a heart chakra yoga class!

If you’ve been at class this week, you know we’ve been targeting the thoracic spine more!
An observation from one of my students “I can feel using my upper back freeing up my shoulders more” & “we don’t use all of our back most of the time” EXACTLY.. this is amazing to hear!

What to expect:
Mainly seated/supine postures
Postures held between 1-3 minutes
Deep, active relaxation in Savasana
Guided Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep)
Crystal Singing Bowl Meditation

Science of yin yoga:
Yin yoga allows for a deeper stretch and tension release. Stretching not only muscle but also the joints, tendons and ligaments. The fascia in the body is deeply released. Like a yogic massage.
Reducing stress, emotional imbalances and anxiety; restoring health.
Aiding better sleep.
Improved circulation, overall flexibility, better mobility and flexibility in joints.
Deep diaphragmatic breathing to activate the parasympathetic nervous system.

If you have not experienced the deep vibrational sounds from the crystal singing bowls you are in for a treat. The vibration penetrates into the body during savasana, serving as an aid for deep relaxation and healing.

I love yin yoga even more in the Winter as it cohesive to self reflection, turning your attention inwards and feeling deeply connected with your body and spirit. Like a cosy mini hibernation for the body and mind. Afterwards, feeling completely refreshed with a sense of inner contentment; allowing for a sense of ease and peace to be felt.
