This week, a trip to Hest Bank to enjoy another session of Apple Pressing is on the schedule. Shoe polishing is also on the agenda, as we know shiny shoes always get a thumbs up, and it is an activity many have done throughout life.

Today Joan visited St Mary's Church in Allithwaite and delivered a Harvest Festival Box filled with fresh produce from The Old Vicarage gardens. Pictured here is Janice, who accepted our gift and arranged it for the display for the Harvest Festival service on Sunday at 10 am. We also met Francis who will be playing harvest festival hymns for the congregation.

Pressing apples was a new skill acquired and the results were delicious. A lot of effort but the reward of lots smiles and positive feedback meant the effort was worthwhile. Many thanks to Lauren for the loan of the Apple Press.

This week, the focus is upon the seasonal aspect of autumn, with the collection of produce from The Old Vicarage orchard and vegetable garden to create and donate a harvest festival basket. On Friday, we shall explore the aquatic beauty of the creatures of the Lakes Aquarium.

Did you know, dominoes originates from China, and it is believed that the Italian missionaries during the 18th century are believed to have introduced their western version to Europeans. This classic game remains popular at The Old Vicarage.

This week's activities have a Harvest Festival influence with an Apple Day and the harvesting of produce from The Old Vicarage garden, whilst perhaps singing along to a couple of verses from 'We Plough the Fields & Scatter'.

Congratulations to Jill, Karen, Christine, Claire and Lisa who successfully completed the 10 mile Walk to Remember, and raised funds for St Mary's Hospice. Jill is in training for next year😉
