An E MTB with a creaking headset… Stripped down and inspected bearings and other parts with no apparent faults. However on further inspection I found the steerer tube was mildly misaligned due to pain build up, causing the bearing cups to not sit true. After getting heavy with the facing tool and reassembling with correct waterproof grease, assembly paste and tightening all fasteners to the exact correct torque, the creaking has gone.

An E MTB with a creaking headset… Stripped down and inspected bearings and other parts with no apparent faults.
