Our Story

“My abiding memories of breaking my collarbone are excruciating pain and feelings of helplessness and vulnerability.” That was me Barbara Thompson, I had fallen onto hard ground from a young horse in a freak accident back in 2009.

It was my first fracture and it was a bad one, broken in four places. The first thing I did when I got back from hospital, wearing the usually prescribed arm sling, was to start a desperate internet search for something that would make me feel more comfortable.

The saying, good luck comes disguised as bad rings true here. If pain focuses the mind to do something about it then my mind was surely set!

Ten years on and ClaviBrace® is a fully patented product with testimonials from all quarters for its ability to remove pain and provide successful outcomes for just about every type of broken collarbone.

Back then, my search for a solution other than surgery to to relieve the horrific nerve pain brought up many types of body braces all of which I ordered with hopeful enthusiasm. Could any of them lessen the pain and allow me some semblance of normality while the bone mended?

I was also determined, if at all possible, to avoid what I was told was inevitable surgery.

Alas, each one was a disappointment, but they prompted me to try out a few ideas of my own. By adding a few bits here and there a rather crude harness emerged, one that helped me feel safe and confident and most of all escape the awful pain. My conscience was also salved that I doing the best I could to heal naturally and hopefully avoid the scar of surgery.

Just five weeks later I was back with my medical consultant, the eminent and world famous Professor Angus Wallace, holding both arms up in the air and asking him to guess which collarbone had been broken. His reaction told me that this was no ordinary occurrence, in fact he pronounced me a “walking miracle”.

To me the miracle is what has emerged since as a result of that crude creation; ClaviBrace® - a unique and new generation of brace that removes pain, improves the quality of healing and provides faster healing - delivered in a Gilet design that eliminates any feeling of self-consciousness.

WE WERE THRILLED WHEN CLAVIBRACE® WON A DA VINCI AWARD FOR MEDICAL BREAKTHROUGH IN 2010, REINFORCING OUR BELIEF THAT WE HAD DESIGNED SOMETHING TRULY DIFFERENT.

The rest is history, Angel Med, a company initially formed to manufacture ClaviBrace® has gone on to make a range of other bracing products and supports. We moved into our new premises at UNIT 18 Priest Court, on Springfield Business Park in Grantham, Lincolnshire England three years ago.
