Although most moles are healthy, new moles or a mole that has changed in size or appearance can be a sign that something more serious is happening, and should always be checked out to either put your mind at ease or to ensure early detection of skin cancer.

More and more people are developing melanomas – the tumours of melanin-forming cells associated with skin cancer – as a result of sun exposure and other lifestyle factors. Certain skin types are more at risk of cancer and more than a third of the cases of malignant melanoma in the UK affect adults under the age of 55.

Early detection is so important with all types of cancer, and no less so with skin cancers, including melanomas. Most stage one and stage two melanomas can be successfully cured, but survival rates of five years or longer post-diagnosis drop to 50% with stage 3 melanomas and 10-25% with stage 4 melanomas.

IPL hair removal works by targeting a broad spectrum of pulsed light energy at the hairs on your face or body that you would like to remove.
The melanin in your hair – i.e. the pigment that gives it its colour - absorbs the light energy, rapidly heats and damages the hair shaft and follicle, impeding its ability to re-grow.
As hair moves through three distinct phases of growth (anagen), transition (catagen) and rest (telogen), several IPL hair removal sessions will be necessary to treat as many hair follicles in the active growth phase as possible.

Successfully manage the symptoms of your underarm hyperhidrosis at Glen Eden.

Excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis is a distressing condition that affects approximately one per cent of the population.

Although there are no definitive cures for hyperhidrosis, a number of different treatments have been shown to offer relief from the excessive sweating that can make this condition so challenging for sufferers.

One option that has proven particularly effective is nerve-blocking injections using anti-wrinkle injections. While this may not be suitable for all forms of hyperhidrosis, it can relieve the symptoms of the condition for up to six months at a time if your excessive sweating is localised to the underarm area.
