🍂 Autumn vibes & turning back the clocks 🍁
With the clocks going back this weekend, nature begins to slow down — preparing quietly for its winter rest… and in a way, so do we.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been tidying up the veg patch and garden, getting everything ready for the colder months ahead. Yesterday, with a few spare minutes and the autumn sun shining (not warm, but beautifully inviting), I couldn’t resist heading outside. I sorted through apples, tomatoes, and the last of the runner beans — some will find their way into hearty stews, others saved for next year’s planting.
There’s something so grounding about being outdoors this time of year — much nicer than sitting inside doing paperwork and accounts! 🌾🍎
Sunday is always my day for meal prep for the week ahead and this week’s theme is “pumpkin spice.” 🎃 I ground a mix of warming spices and the whole house instantly smelled like Christmas! With the squashes and pumpkins now ready I made a rich pumpkin purée to freeze — perfect for adding flavour and depth to soups — and whipped up some delicious pumpkin spice cupcakes using the spice blend. The sweet breakfast bread also turned out really well.
Now we’re off for a walk with the girls 🐾 and with the chill in the air, I’m sure we’ll be ready for a hot coffee (or tea for Chris!) and a yummy pumpkin spice muffin when we get back.
If you made it to the end of my autumn ramblings — tell me, did you enjoy the extra hour in bed this morning? ⏰💛
And what about you — do you prefer cosy indoor days or crisp autumn walks? 🍂☕
