Week 8 run 2 couch to 5k
Running along the coast of Northern Ireland.
Being out in nature and being active is so good, not only for your physical health but also mental well being. Even a gentle stroll in the local park or green area can really help you feel happier and healthier. Enjoy the sun everyone, I am certainly intending to!!!
p.s. a 16 min sea swim made the day perfect! 🥶❄️

Getting out and enjoying the sunshine with a long walk in Derbyshire.
It's tempting to overdo exercise when the weather gets better, whether it's a long walk, gardening or running. Remember that after the winter break your body isn't able to do what it could before and you need to pace your activity to prevent, overuse injuries.
Doing some strength and conditioning exercises can help you to prepare your body for activities you would like to do too.

Just finished run 2 of week 3 couch to 5k. Building up time running slowly to allow muscles, tendons and bones to adapt to the new loading through them. Ernie is joining me so we can build up to running 30 minutes without sustaining an injury.
Building up training too quickly is the number one cause of overuse injuries in any sports or activities. At Grace Physiotherapy we can advise you on reducing your risk of injury and with help returning to sports and a strengthening program appropriate for your sport or activity. Call 07510 410730 if you would like an appointment

Yesterday I took that first step to restart my running and completed week 1 run 1 couch to 5k! That first step is always the hardest but you won't regret it, i didn't. Find a friend to support you if you need and get going.
If you are considering running this is a great free app that manges your training load building up from no running to running 30 mins over a 9 week program.
Take care as it is designed for a non runner without injury so if you have an existing injury you may need to take longer to complete the program.
If you would like more detailed advice and a strength and conditioning program to aid returning to your sport then contact Grace Physiotherapy on 07510 410730.

I always feel like September is a time for change. The days are getting shorter, the leaves are turning and if you have children it is a new school year or like my family, exciting changes to University.

My change is to be more active on my social media to share my knowledge with you and help you to stay injury free and help you participate in activities that improve your physical and mental health.

After 30 years of being qualified I have rather a lot of knowledge to share! This is where I would like your help in topics you would like to be covered so I can plan and deliver what you want, not just what I think you want. I would be grateful if you could comment with your thoughts and ideas. Jo
