Happy Sisyphus Counselling

Happy Sisyphus Counselling My name is Andreea Achim (MBACP) and I an Integrative Counsellor/ Therapist. Why Happy Sisyphus? Do things ever feel like ‘an uphill struggle’?

Do you ever feel like you’re ‘carrying a massive weight on your shoulders’? These very phrases are echoes of ancient wisdom about human nature and life. The image of Sisyphus (an ancient Greek king punished by the Gods) carrying a boulder up a mountain, only for it to roll back down again, resonates as a symbol of the human condition. It is the feeling that we are walking around carrying a massive

burden on our shoulders, making everything harder for us and never quite reaching 'the heights' of our full potential. But what if I told you that your burden can become your strength? Instead of being a source of suffering, it can become a tool for growth and transformation. Both in my personal and clinical experience, I have seen again and again that no matter how hopeless we feel and how heavy the boulder gets, we have within us an intrinsic capacity for resilience, a fundamental drive to thrive. At Happy Sisyphus Counselling my mission is to support you to access your personal resilience and inner-resources necessary not only for navigating but also for enjoying the journey towards the heights you set for yourself. In my counselling practice, I invite and support you to examine the boulder of adversity which may be keeping you stuck, and discover ways in which you may transform it from burden to strength and become a Happy Sisyphus.

Feeling a bit rough this morning but woke up to this splendour and it was an instant lift.
It feels like a reminder to me that ultimately no amount of concrete and artificiality can sever the deep connection with nature that runs in our DNA.
No amount of hate and suffering can hide the fact that we are programmed to care, nurture and grow together in our interconnectedness.
I am grateful.💗

It’s really good to see this topic being normalised and to see research into it as well.A really interesting read. 👇🏻

Open article: More people are choosing to stay unpartnered, and it’s time we ditch the stigma and start to understand the lived experiences of singletons beyond the context of dating, says Suzy Walker. Therapy Today, May 2025.

“My dear,
In the midst of hate, I found there was, within me, an invincible love.
In the midst of tears, I found there was, within me, an invincible smile.
In the midst of chaos, I found there was, within me, an invincible calm.
I realized, through it all, that…
In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer.
And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there’s something stronger – something better, pushing right back.” Albert Camus

Your wellbeing is not a luxury, it is the foundation on which everything else you need and want to do, be and become is based. Don’t wait for things to be “bad enough” - consider reaching out as an act of self-care.

Emotional regulation is one of the most empowering skills we can ever develop.
Yet, it is not something that is regularly taught or talked about.
While the mechanics of the nervous system is shared by most multicellular animals - things get more complicated in humans, particularly where there are/ have been adverse experiences and trauma, which can dysregulate our nervous system and lead to unhelpful unconscious beliefs holding us trapped in fear and worry.
The therapeutic space provides the safety, containment and skills necessary to begin to feel more in control of our autonomic nervous system and our internalised beliefs.
