Happy International Nurses Day 💙
Like so many nurses, my journey has taken me through many different roles — each one shaping the woman I am today.
I qualified as a nurse in 2002 when my daughter Kiya wasn’t even one year old. Soon after, I became a single parent. Balancing life as a busy emergency nurse at Basildon University Hospital while raising a little girl on my own was far from easy. There were exhausting days, emotional nights, and moments where I questioned how I would keep going.
But like so many single parents, the love I had for my daughter and the determination to give her a better future kept me moving forward, even on the hardest days.
My nursing journey led me from emergency nursing to becoming a school nurse, before returning to university to qualify as a Health Visitor. From there, I stepped into leadership roles as a Health Visiting Team Leader, a Children’s Safeguarding Supervisor, and later a lead for domestic abuse within one of the London boroughs — all while building my aesthetic clinic alongside my nursing career.
Throughout the years, I have had the privilege of standing beside some truly incredible nurses. Beautiful souls whose kindness, strength, compassion, and dedication have touched lives in ways words could never fully describe.
Looking back, it really has been quite the journey, but i'm deeply grateful for every chapter 🫶
Happy International Nurses Day to every nurse past and present
