As we age it becomes harder to maintain mobility. If we get injured it can take longer to recover, and can make us start to become sedentary. Being sedentary is not a great option for keeping independence as we age, as there are negative bodily (anatomical/physiological) responses to this lack of movement.
Its easy to stop moving.
Physical training helps to keep people independent for longer. For this to be a positive experience, it is advisible to use a professional help, such as Essex Sports Rehab.
The graph below (borrowed from a research paper by Cannataro et al 2022) depicts this nicely. There are several other reasons it is beneficial, which will be discussed tomorrow night.
