Update on Bookham Station:
Good news! The new Train and Bus display for platform one is now in situ, special thanks to the Bookhams Residents' Association for their help with the CIL application and perseverance over the purchase order. (The screen will be connected to the live information shortly).
There are also two new benches on platform one thanks to the SWR CCIF fund. Finally we have tactile paving on the platform edges, and a mobility scooter sizing guide (70cm x 120cm) to help with access to trains.

Good to see Bookham’s new white LED real time information displays have been installed.

New bus stop bench.

Thanks to the team at South Western Railway for their help with our campaign for a bench by the bus stop at Bookham Station. We were able to win funding through the CCIF scheme. The bench is now installed which will benefit our community.

New display on platform 1

Good news Mole Valley District Council’s Cabinet has approved the Community Infrastructure Levy funding for an additional 32 inch display on platform one, with information on train and bus departures.

This is in addition to the South Western Railway funded display on platform 2 that we requested, which was installed last year.

Bookham Station Toilets update.

Following positive dialogue with South Western Railway,
a planning application for the refurbishment of the old male toilets at Bookham Station has been submitted to Mole Valley District Council MO/2023/0063.

South Western Railway are going to provide a combined unisex toilet with an accessible toilet cubicle.
Whilst this is slightly different from my request, it is good to see improvements being made at Bookham Station.

I have requested the toilets are included on the RADAR key scheme, with the intention the toilets can be available 24/7 for those who are registered, but I am still awaiting confirmation.

Planning consent should be a formality, and I look forward to seeing the construction of the new toilets in due course.

Good news for Bookham Station. Mole Valley’s working group for Community Infrastructure Levy funding, have approved the application for a second display screen to be placed on platform 1. This is still subject to a final sign off by the cabinet, but after many months of hard work it has passed a significant milestone.

Good news! South Western Railway have agreed to look at reopening the toilets at Bookham Station, and have applied for them to be included in the 2023-2024 budget.
I have also been assured that tactile paving is to be installed along the platforms in due course.

As part of South Western Railways community improvement fund I have applied for a grant to provide a new bench by the bus stop at the front of the station which I know a few people have requested.

I am continuing, to raise awareness and engage with the National Trust on the possible path improvement from the tunnel car park to platform one to allow wheeled access to the platform.

If you have any ideas for the SWR Communities Improvement Fund, please let me know, or apply directly below.

Best wishes

Andrew
