One thing I hear a lot is ‘there’s no point preparing for birth, whatever is going to happen will happen’. I personally strongly disagree with this (but then, I am a planner!) and believe that preparing for birth has a big impact on your birth experience.

BUT, even if birth takes a different path than you expect, hypnobirthing gives you:

🌿A calmer nervous system
🌿Confidence in your decisions and ability to advocate for yourself
🌿Tools to stay grounded and calm
🌿A sense of control within the experience
🌿The chance to get on the same page as your birth partner and help them know how to help you

No one can guarantee the perfect birth - but you can feel informed, prepared and supported, and importantly proud of how you navigated it. And that matters, long after birth itself 🤍

If you want to arm yourself with the tools, techniques and mindset to navigate birth on your terms, send me a DM for a space on my upcoming hypnobirthing classes running in Feb & April💌

They probably won’t say it until after you’ve given birth so they don’t worry you, but most birth partners are afraid of labour and birth. They want so badly to be able to help, but they just don’t know how and not knowing what they are going to be walking into is scary!

Hypnobirthing not only prepares birth partners for what’s ahead, it also gives them a clear role and practical ways they can support you during your late pregnancy and birth so they are part of the experience with you, not standing on the sidelines feeling useless or faffing around when you need calm.

Giving birth is a team experience, and the preparation should be too. My small group hypnobirthing courses in Great Dunmow are for you and your birth partner to enjoy together, and to leave feeling confident, prepared and on the same page. With plenty of time for discussion, questions and activities together, most birth partners I see really lean in to learning more and tend to have at least one ‘eureka’ moment during the course!

My next course kicks off on 24th Feb - DM to hold a spot for you both ❤️

There’s often a lot of preconceptions about hypnobirthing, so let’s take a minute to clear this up.

Hypnobirthing is not:
❌ a guarantee
❌ a bit of deep breathing
❌ a “perfect” experience

It is:
✨ understanding how fear affects pain & what you can do about it
✨ knowing your options and how to advocate for your choices
✨ staying calm even if plans change

Most of my clients don’t want a perfect birth. They want to feel informed, confident, and supported, whatever their birth journey looks like.

Want to feel like this too? Drop me a message to hold your spot on my small group Hypnobirthing 101 course, or tap the link in bio for more info.

If your brain suddenly switches on at night and runs through every possible birth scenario, you’re not broken. You’re human!

Most of the anxiety I see isn’t about birth itself. It’s about fear of the unknown, fear of pain, and fear of losing control. That’s totally understandable - giving birth is an experience unlike any other, and even if you have given birth before, every birth experience is different.

Hypnobirthing isn’t about pretending birth is easy, it’s about understanding what’s happening in your body and learning how to stay calm within it. Armed with knowledge and tools, you’ll be able to birth with calm and confidence, no matter what your journey looks like.

The benefits of skin to skin for newborns have been widely studied, however a Cochrane review released this week has now gone one step further and concluded that the benefits of skin to skin have been so validated in so many research studies, that it would now be unethical to conduct further randomised control trials to compare skin to skin contact with separation of mum and baby after birth 🌟

Uninterrupted skin to skin immediately after birth as standard care is recommended by WHO and UNICEF, and while this is common practice in homebirths and midwifery led care, in a hospital setting this may not always be the case. Be prepared to advocate for this for you and your baby, as long as all is well.

Swipe through for more info and don’t forget to save this post as part of your birth prep!

Have you heard that you should be eating tons of dates in pregnancy?

Research has shown eating dates in late pregnancy to be effective at
💥 Increasing cervical dilation
💥 Shortening the length of the first stages of labour
💥 Reducing the need for induction

So how many?

6 dates a day, from 36 weeks pregnant. That’s a lot of dates, which are a bit of an acquired taste!

If you’ve got any yummy date recipes for those that aren’t so keen, share them in the comments!
