Curious about Hypnobirthing? Come find out what it’s really all about!

If you’re pregnant (or your partner is!) and you're starting to think "How on earth am I going to give birth?" - you are SO not alone. And the good news? You don’t have to do it in fear or panic. 🙌

I'm running a relaxed, no-pressure Hypnobirthing Taster Session and you’re invited! 🎉

We’ll have a chat about:
✨ What hypnobirthing actually is (spoiler: it's not swinging pocket watches!)
✨ How it can help you feel calm, confident, and in control during birth
✨ Tips you can start using straight away (even if you're early on!)
✨ Why birth partners are a BIG part of this too

Whether you're a first-time parent or planning a different kind of birth this time around, come along and see how this approach could change everything for you.

Bring your questions, bring your bump, bring your partner (or your mum/friend/doula - whoever’s in your corner) and let's have a really lovely, down-to-earth chat about birth. 💬💕

"...For my active labour I stayed upright on the bed and on all fours l did not want to lie on my back and I didn't have to. I used some gas and air at the start but ended up putting it down and just breathing through my contractions, trusting my body and pushing when I wanted and felt I needed to. Baby Jude was born on Sunday 15th October at 12:39pm. My first thought after birth was that it wasn't actually as bad as I thought it would be and as bad as people made out.

Just when I thought my birth was complete. The doctor told me I needed to go to surgery to remove my placenta as after 3 attempts and an injection, it wasn't detaching. Again fear started to take over as I've never had surgery before and being scrubbed up, being numbed and being in the bright lights of a theatre did give me a moment of panic but I breathed through and thought of my happy thoughts. My placenta was removed and I had a few stitches and was then taken to the post natal ward with Jude.

My birth experience definitely hasn’t put me off another baby in the future, even though I didn't get the birth I wanted, I got through it thanks to Jens help, guidance and techniques and my wonderful husband.

I am now using Jen's breathing techniques in my life, since birth I've had high blood pressure and been readmitted to hospital for checks and medication, Jude has had Jaundice and we were readmitted for the weekend whilst he underwent phototherapy. Every time I have used Jen's breathing techniques and MP3s to help calm and relax myself and I imagine I will probably use the techniques she has taught me for the rest of my life."

"....The next day I started with back ache at around 8:30am and by 10am I was having
Contractions every 2 minutes that lasted for 30 seconds, again, I breathed through my contractions and didn't have any pain relief.

That night I had another cervical check and I was only 1.5cm dilated, I felt a bit disheartened and I had leaked some blood and a little water. The midwife told me my waters hadn't broke, but that to help with the pain, I should have a bath.

I got into the bath on the ward for around an hour, I listened to Jen's candle relaxation and fear release MP3's whilst smelling aromatherapy oils and my husband massaging my head. This really helped and again I didn't need any pain medication.

At around midnight I was admitted to Birth Suite to start labour as they were worried about baby as my contractions were not slowing down but I wasn't dilating enough.

At 2:20am on Sunday 15th October my waters were broken by a doctor and at this point I did use gas and air but it made me feel really dizzy and faint and even more out of control so I stopped and went back to my hypnobirthing breathing and picturing my visualisations.

At 4:30am, I had only got to 2cm dilated and felt disheartened, tired and in lots of pain! At this point I did have diamorphine to help with the pain, my contractions were happening quickly and the pain was becoming difficult to control. Whilst on diamorphine I had a lovely nap which helped boost my energy levels but at 6:30am the midwife said that the diamorphine had stopped/slowed the contractions so I had to go on the drip to start the contractions again. This sent me from 0-100 fast and I needed Nathan the most at this point to get me through the pain. He did the back massages that Jen taught him, he supported me and used positive affirmations to help me, I used a mixture of gas and air and my breathing techniques to get me through.

Around 10am I really needed a wee so wheeled my drip to the toilet and as soon as I sat on the toilet I felt a huge pressure and the urge to push, it was a strange sensation but I knew baby was coming!..."

"Being a complete control freak or as I like to call it organised, the thought of giving birth scared me a little as I thought it would be the one time I wouldn't have control, the words panic, pain and put of control were words I associated with birth until I met Jen!

I joined Jen at a taster hypnobirthing session after hearing so many good reviews from friends that had worked with her and immediately booked onto her course. Unfortunately, due to my partners work we couldn’t join the group class every Saturday so Jen offered 1:1 private classes in my own home which were amazing. From session one my mindset and attitude towards birth completely changed and shifted. Jen taught us relaxation and breathing techniques to help with the "panic" but also the science and biology about hormones, body changes and what to expect.

I only managed 2 out of 4 sessions with Jen due to a very unexpected induction nearly 3 weeks earlier than my due date. This is when I needed my hypnobirthing techniques the most!

I was admitted on Friday 13th after a growth scan as my blood pressure was high and the doctor suspected pre eclampsia, I was 37 weeks and 3 days. I was told I wouldn't be able to have my nice planned water birth, my twinkly lights, aromatherapy and I needed to give birth on the birth suite instead as I needed a doctor led birth on the labour ward. I was scared and cried and felt for a moment even more out of control than I could imagine. I text Jen and she calmed me down and reassured me immediately. I used Jen's breathing techniques and listened to her MP3s which relaxed me and put me at ease, knowing my body was made to do this and I can do it.

At 4pm that day I had a cervical check and the 1st part of induction started, I used my hypnobirthing breathing on every cervical check as they aren't very pleasant!..."

I have had a flurry of new followers recently so I thought I should introduce myself!

I'm Jennie Birtwistle, the founder of Jentle Hypnobirthing and I am here to guide you to have the best birth for you.

I'm an experienced Hypnobirthing Teacher (having taught over 300 couples!) and I teach courses across East Lancashire and online for those further away.

I understand what it is like to feel apprehensive about birth. Working as a Midwife, I come across lots of pregnant people feeling this way. We hear so many awful stories about it don't we?

Hypnobirthing is a game changer. Honestly!

I love seeing the change in my clients. Birth doesn't have to be something to fear and it can be an incredibly positive experience.

I'd love to hear in the comments what has brought you to this page and how I can help.
