“Is sound healing actually real?”
It’s a fair question, especially if it’s something you’ve never experienced before
Sound has been used for healing and ritual for centuries across different cultures. From early tribal drumming and chanting to more modern therapeutic practices, rhythm and vibration have long been used to bring the body back into balance
Today, we understand more about why this can feel so powerful
Sound is vibration
Vibration is a form of energy
And the human body is constantly responding to energy, from the environment around us to the internal rhythms within us
In a soundbath, steady, repetitive tones are used to gently guide the body out of a more alert, thinking state and into deeper states of rest
This is where brainwaves come in:
• Beta your normal waking state (thinking, analysing, problem-solving)
• Alpha a more relaxed, calm state (like daydreaming or quiet focus)
• Theta deeper relaxation (often where you drift between wake and sleep)
• Delta very deep rest (associated with sleep and restoration)
During a soundbath, many people naturally move from beta down into alpha or theta states where the body can begin to relax, process and restore
You don’t have to believe in anything
Your body already understands rhythm
It already responds to sound
It already knows how to slow down
Sound simply gives it the space to do that
Not magic
Not force
Just a very natural way of supporting the body back into balance 🌙
