📸 May is Photography Month: Going "Behind the Scenes"! 📸

Ever wonder what our amazing staff get up to when they aren't here with us? This May, we’re finding out!

To celebrate National Photography Month, we’ve challenged our staff to a "Day in the Life" photo challenge. All month long, our team will be snapping one photo a day to share with our residents.

From morning coffee rituals and messy dog walks to hobby highlights and "end of shift" smiles, we’re giving our residents a front-row seat to the lives of the people who care for them.

👟 Only 15 Days to Go! 👟
The countdown is on for David and his daughter! In just over two weeks, they’ll be taking on the Trek 26 in London to raise vital funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.

This is such a wonderful cause and a charity that means so much to all of us here at Hatchmoor. David and his daughter have put in so much hard work, and we are so proud of them for taking on this challenge!

There is still time to show your support! If you haven't had a chance yet, please consider donating to help them reach their goal. Every little bit makes a huge difference in the fight against dementia.

🌟 Welcome Back, Great Torrington School!
We had a lovely afternoon session yesterday as we welcomed a brand-new group of GTS students to Hatchmoor! It was the very first session for these students, so we focused on breaking the ice and making everyone feel right at home.

The afternoon was full of smiles and creativity as we:

🎨 Made personalized name tags to help residents and students get to know one another.

🧩 Enjoyed some "brain gym" activities, including crosswords, word searches, and colouring.

💬 Shared plenty of stories, with many of our residents and students simply enjoying the chance to sit and chat.

It was wonderful to see such a content atmosphere throughout the home. We are so excited to see these new friendships grow in the weeks to come!

Say goodbye to The Hatchmoor Flyer and hello to The Hatchmoor Unhatched!

We know how much you love seeing what our residents are up to, so we’ve created this special "Facebook-friendly" version of our newsletter. It’s a simplified look at the stories, smiles, and celebrations that make Hatchmoor such a wonderful place to be.

We hope this gives you a lovely insight into our community. Most importantly, we want to wish all of our residents, families, and friends a very Happy Good Friday and a wonderful Easter bank holiday weekend!

👋 A Heartfelt Farewell to our GTS Students!

Today marked a very special—and slightly emotional—day as we said goodbye to the GTS students who have been visiting us every Thursday for the past 12 weeks.

What started as a weekly visit has blossomed into a lovely bond between the students and our residents. Watching these different generations connect, share stories, and learn from one another has been the highlight of our week.

There were many smiles (and maybe a few happy tears!) as letters and thoughtful gifts were exchanged. 💌

We want to wish all the students a very Happy Easter! We hope you have a relaxing and wonderful Easter break. 🐣

While we are sad to see this group go, we are already looking forward to meeting a brand-new group of students at the start of the new school term. 🏫

Thank you to the students and staff at Great Torrington School for making the last 12 weeks so memorable. You are welcome back anytime! 🌸🌼

David Swancott and his daughter are back at it! 👟

After such an amazing experience last year, they've decided to take to the streets of London once again to raise vital funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.

On May 9th, 2026, they'll be walking another 13 miles through the capital. It’s a brand-new route this year, but the goal remains the same: supporting those living with dementia and their families.

We would be so grateful for any support you can give. Every penny helps!

Today we learn a little about Lohri, a joyful winter festival celebrated mainly in North India, especially within Punjabi culture. Lohri marks the end of winter and the harvest season, bringing people together around warmth, gratitude, and community.
