A wonderful fishing theme for Mr G this week, and some amazing feedback from his family. Thank you so much for sending us such a kind email 🩶

I just wanted to send an email to say how absolutely wonderful every single member of your staff has been in regards to my dad’s funeral on 16th September.

Chris & Nicola at Bradwell have just been absolutely incredible helping me and understanding all of my concerns. Guiding me every step of the way without judgement. I cannot thank them enough.

Penny & Jenny in Acle were also so kind and compassionate, caring for my dad in his final days and also being incredibly supportive the entire time.

And then lastly Sean and his team on the day of the funeral itself. You honestly made me feel so at ease and guided me the entire time, walking me through each step with such care and compassion. This meant so much. The wonderful touch of the wooden engraved heart has just meant the world to me and my brother and it was exactly what we needed.

I really cannot thank you ALL at Arthur Jarys for your amazing work. Just an incredible company.

It was a beautiful crisp morning at 4am as my colleagues and I left to assist a family with an exhumation and re burial.

An exhumation usually takes place in the early hours before dawn, when there is less public around. They require the involvement of the local council, environmental health, and a funeral director with the requisite knowledge and means to be able to carry out such an undertaking. How lucky am I that I have such colleagues, who were willing to step up and help.

Private exhumations are quite rare, but they can be arranged with the appropriate licenses being granted and cooperation of the relevant authorities.

Today the stars (quite literally) aligned for this family and we are able to accommodate her wishes and lay her to rest next to her grandson who sadly pre deceased her

Today is National Grief Awareness Day – a reminder that grief touches us all, in different ways and at different times.

🩶 There is no ‘right’ way to grieve
🩶 Grief is more than sadness
🩶 Everyone has a right to grieve
🩶 Silence can hurt just as much as words
🩶 Grief cannot be ‘fixed’
🩶 Grief has no expiry date

If you’re grieving, know that your feelings are valid. And if you’re supporting someone who is, kindness, patience, and simply being present can mean more than you realise.

A very well presented point. The difference between a local independent company and a national company is quite staggering.
An independent funeral director will listen to you, understand your needs and work hard to accommodate them, whereas a national faceless online company will simply collect and dispose.
It breaks my heart when we speak to families who tell us they’ve booked with an online company, and they still don’t know that their loved one is taken to the other side of the country to be cremated. A stage in the grieving process is removed. No chance to say goodbye. Just simply… gone.

VJ Day marks the anniversary of 15 August 1945 when Japan announced its surrender to the Allied forces.

The surrender was met with relief and celebration that after six long years the Second World War was finally over.

While millions took part in parades and street parties, there was also great sadness - the human cost was enormous and many eagerly awaited the safe return of loved ones.

Over 90,000 British troops were casualties in the war against Japan - 30,000 died and 37,500 were held as prisoners of war.

For hundreds of thousands of service personnel from Britain and the Commonwealth, it would take many months to be reunited with loved ones, some of whom they hadn’t seen for more than five years.
