In September 2023 we joined the Pace of Mind walking/running group. The funding was extended twice, until it could no longer be funded by Mind. Linda White did the England athletics training and took over the organisation of the group. We changed the name to βOff The Paceβ which encompassed the fact that we are all different and go at our own pace. The group consists of people with anxiety, mental health issues and those with health concerns. We fully support each other before, during and after the session. We start with a get together at the Marina centre, then after a small warm up, we head off walking, jogging or running. We never leave anyone behind and the runners circle back to the group. After the session, we all meet up at the Marina centre and have a half hour chat and hot drink. Since joining this group my mental health has improved and I look forward to this every week. Several others health and anxiety have improved, a few of us have lost weight and got fitter. One person has now lost 4 stone since starting the group. The ethos of the group is to chat have fun and support each other. We meet every Wednesday at 16:30 until 18:30 but if anyone just wants to come for the walk/run we go from 17:00 until 18:00. Anyone is welcome, any ability and all fitness levels. If anyone wants to join it is free and avoids the worry of being alone. If someone wants to come and is worried about meeting others please contact us and we can arrange to meet anytime and outside before the group. From the 10th January we added Friday sessions from 17:00 until 19:00 or just the walk/run from 17:30 until 18:30 all are welcome. Please let anyone know, we welcome all who come along.
