1 in 7 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and 1% of cases occur in men.
Statistically, you may already have friends, family, or colleagues who are affected, and others who will be. But would you even know what to look for if it happened to you or someone close?
Here are some of the symptoms to look out for:
➡️Lumps or swelling in the breast, chest, or armpit
➡️Changes to the skin, such as dimpling or puckering
➡️Alterations in breast size, shape, or colour (darker, red, or inflamed)
➡️Nipple changes, including inversion or unusual discharge, rash, or crusting
➡️Persistent pain in the breast or armpit (rarely alone, but worth noting)
Even a small gap in knowledge can delay early detection, which is why understanding what to look for is so important.
This October, Thrive4Life will be heading up a city-wide campaign on “Be Breast & Chest Aware: Make Self-Checks a Lifesaving Habit”, led by Consultant Breast Cancer Surgeon, Miss Joanna Franks, and supported by Lloyd’s Corporation, IFN, and many other city-based corporations.
Miss Franks will guide you on recognising early warning signs and symptoms, supported by effective breast self-checks, and highlight the importance of timely medical assessment - because when it comes to breast cancer, early action saves lives.
Event highlights:
✅ Live Keynote Talk: Thurs 9th Oct, 12:30 – 1:30 PM, followed by a light networking lunch
✅ Streamed Live Webinar: Thurs 16th Oct, 1:00 – 1:30 PM, with recording available for 3 months - www.thrive4life.co.uk/event/webinar-be-breast-and-chest-aware

And a huge thank you to our sponsors so far, whose support is helping raise awareness and drive action for this important cause!
