My style of working is informed by Attachment Theory, by CBT and hypnotherapy with a focus on using the safety of the therapeutic relationship to help you address life's challenges in a creative and meaningful way. If this is your first experience of psychotherapy, you might find the idea a little daunting. So do feel free to call or email me if you have any questions before setting up an initial meeting. All sessions are currently online only, although I will be opening up my Borehamwood office for face to face consultations soon. If it makes it easier for you, feel free to call or email me if you have any questions before setting up an initial meeting. Professional Development

As part of my commitment to my on-going professional development, I present my clinical work to a supervisor, who like myself, adheres to the UKCP and BACP’s code of ethics, including the highest levels of confidentiality. I also participate in continuous peer-supervision to ensure that my practices in Shoreditch and Borehamwood afford the best informed care. In addition to my qualification in attachment-based psychoanalytic psychotherapy, I hold an undergraduate degree in Psychology (BA), completed an Associate's Training at The Arbors Therapeutic Community, and hold a certificate in Hypnotherapy (Eriksonian).

This morning was something special. 🌿✨

A breakfast and reception to mark the opening of the Janette’s Garden — a space that captures her vibrancy, warmth, and the deep imprint she left on so many lives.

It was moving to be surrounded by colleagues and friends from all parts of her world, each bringing their memories, laughter, and love. Gateways have created something truly beautiful - a garden that holds both reflection and life, serenity and sparkle. Just like Janette.

Sharing a few quiet moments from today, with deep gratitude. 💚

You’ve done the work. You’ve read the books. And still, part of you keeps reaching for the same kind of connection — even when it hurts.
This isn’t about failure. It’s about familiarity.
Let’s gently explore why these patterns can feel so hard to shift — and what starts to change when you begin noticing them with compassion.

Ever find yourself pulling back right when things are going well?

That’s not laziness or a lack of willpower—it might be self-sabotage.
And more often than not, sabotage is just protection in disguise.

In this post, I break down why we do it, where it comes from, and how therapy can help you shift the pattern—not by fighting yourself, but by understanding yourself.

Ever feel like you’re stuck in a loop—even when you “know better”?

That inner conflict is often a sign that something deeper is ready to shift.

It’s not about willpower—it’s about understanding what shaped you.

I help professionals break free from old attachment patterns and move forward with clarity and self-trust.

I had the recent privilege of meeting with Laurence Field, CEO of Gateways, Julia Alberga, Trustee, and Adam Abadi, the very talented landscaper, to look at the design specifications for the Janette Hechel memorial garden.

I was deeply moved by the thought and care that has gone into every detail of this project. From the layout to the choice of plants and textures, every element reflects Janette’s warmth, her colourful personality, and love of nature. It’s clear this will be more than just a beautiful space — it will be a serene, restorative corner for students to pause, reflect, and connect.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved for your commitment to creating something so meaningful.

Have you ever felt stuck in a pattern you just can’t shift?
I work with people who feel caught in painful cycles — stress, disconnection, anxiety — often rooted in deep life experiences.
You might be:

✨ Questioning your faith or leaving a faith community

💔 Navigating loss, grief, or trauma

🧠 Carrying the weight of childhood wounds

🌀 Feeling like you’ve “tried everything” but still feel stuck

I’m a UKCP-registered psychoanalytic psychotherapist (MBACP) with years of experience supporting people through the complexities of life — from identity and chronic illness to relationships, addiction, and workplace stress.

Right now, I have space for 2–3 new clients.

If something here resonates — even a quiet “yes” — you’re warmly invited to reach out for a free, no-pressure consultation.
Sometimes, the first step is just starting the conversation.
Let’s begin, together.

🫓🫓🫓 As Passover approaches, I’ve been thinking about the heart of this holiday — Yetziyat Mitzrayim — the Exodus, the coming out of narrowness of captivity into expansiveness.

How can we today accept the message as a real invitation to live more expansively?

A call to step out of the constriction we might still feel — especially for the women who often carry the weight of preparation.

This year, as last year, the story of redemption feels heavier.
We come to the Seder table with the painful awareness that some are still not free.
There are still hostages in captivity.
There are still families waiting.
We hold that in our hearts, even as we try to tell the story of liberation 🎗️🎗️

And still — we are invited to step toward personal expansiveness - to not only remember freedom, but to embody it, even in the smallest of ways...

🧽 To differentiate between spring cleaning and Passover cleaning.
🫓 To cook less, delegate more, ask for help without guilt.
🌳To show up not depleted, but present.
😌To carve out space to rest, to be heard, to belong and to replenish.

This year may you find your own kind of freedom as you strive to help others find theirs.

Tag someone who might need to hear this.

**🌿 Pain, Suffering & Attachment: A Path to Healing 🌿**

Pain and suffering often trace back to our deepest attachments—whether to people, past experiences, or unfulfilled dreams. These attachments shape how we connect, how we love, and how we hurt. When they’re disrupted, it can feel like we’re losing parts of ourselves.

Therapy helps you understand these attachments, allowing you to explore the wounds they leave behind. It offers a compassionate space to untangle the emotions tied to your past and create healthier connections with yourself and others. It’s not about erasing the pain but learning to sit with it, heal, and grow beyond it.

You don’t have to carry your suffering alone. Therapy helps you understand your attachments, heal your heart, and build the secure connections you deserve. 🌻💛

🌸 Honoring Janette Hechel’s Legacy 🌸

Hi everyone,

I’m raising money for the charity, Gateways, in memory of Janette Hechel.

Janette worked for the LJCC & JW3 for many years.

One of their projects which was close to her heart was Gateways.

Gateways is an alternative educational setting, supporting young people who are out of mainstream education.
Janette was not just a supporter of Gateways; she was its backbone from the very beginning.

To mark the 4 year anniversary of Janette’s death on September 21st, Gateways is dedicating an outside space “Janette’s Garden”.

Please join me in donating to this cause which was so dear to her heart - your support can help us build a space of growth and reflection in her memory: https://www.justgiving.com/page/jacqueline-samuel-1724929148751?utm_term=R8REDdbbN

Every contribution makes a difference! 💚
