Many people have difficulties stopping antidepressants. Especially if they have been taking these drugs for a long time, when they are at risk of suffering severe and long-lasting effects from withdrawal. I would know - I’ve been a GP for over 30 years with a specialist interest in mental health.

The College of Medicine's Vice President Dr Harry Brünjes is behind a gripping new podcast series from the Daily Mail’s The Crime Desk...delving into the minds of Britain’s most infamous medical murderers.

The podcast is hosted by Harry and Dr Andrew Johns, who trained together as medical students at Guy’s Hospital in London.

Harry spent 16 years as a clinician and a police surgeon, while Andrew became one of the leading forensic psychiatrists in the UK, spending years inside the walls of Broadmoor – the high security psychiatric hospital – and giving evidence in at least 100 murder trials.

Well that was a full-on three days! But what an inspirational way to end the conference, hearing Dan Buettner talk about the secrets of longevity, health and happiness to life, to a packed out auditorium. Thanks to everyone involved for helping to make the event such a success.

Another inspirational day at IPM Congress 2025. A day full of interesting speakers, starting with College co-Chair Dr Michael Dixon, and culminating with College ambassador Dean Ornish, MD discussing the importance of lifestyle changes.

We also had lots of great conversations with visitors to our stand, all of whom were interested in our vision to redefine medicine beyond pills and procedures, to reconnect practitioners with patients, people with their environment and use both conventional and non-conventional approaches to health.

Now looking forward to day 3 and Food on Prescription!
