As covid restrictions are lifted we are seeing increasing numbers of kids with viral infections. Sometimes it's difficult to know when to get them seen by a doctor. Here are 3 reasons when you MUST get a child seen:

1. If they are breathing fast (panting like a dog)
2. If they have not passed urine in 24 hours
3. If they are floppy

If you're ever concerned, always seek a medical assessment but the above 3 reasons are things that doctors are concerned about.

Your step-by-step guide to making your own face mask - no sewing necessary

What you’ll need:

A bandana, handkerchief or piece of clean fabric (ideally 20 inches square)
2 hair bands (or rubber bands)

Instructions

You'll need just a few items to make your no-sew face mask. The bandana, scarf, or handkerchief needs to be at least 20 inches by 20 inches so it's large enough to cover your nose and mouth.

Global Covid-19 deaths surpass 6 million.
The global Covid-19 death toll surpassed 6 million last week, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

Global daily deaths have been dropping quickly over the past month, down from about 11,000 a day in the second week of February to about 7,000 a day now - one of the lowest rates reported over the past year.

But the loss is still immense, with about 1 million deaths recorded over the past four months.

About 1 in 1,300 people globally are confirmed to have died from Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic, and experts believe the true numbers are likely to be much more due to under-reporting.

About 57% of the world's population -- more than 4.4 billion people -- is fully vaccinated with their initial course, though this varies widely from country to country. Less than 14% of people in low-income countries have received at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine.

How to be safe? If you feel unwell make sure to get tested.

COVID-19 Vaccines Mythbuster

MYTH : “The COVID-19 vaccine reduces fertility.”
FACT : The COVID-19 vaccine will not affect fertility.
There's no evidence that COVID-19 vaccines have any effect on your chances of becoming pregnant. The vaccine helps the body to develop antibodies which minimise the severity of any Covid-19 infection. Becoming unwell with COVID-19 can potentially have a serious impact on both mother and baby’s health. There's no need to avoid getting pregnant after being vaccinated.

MYTH : “If I’ve already had COVID-19, I don’t need a vaccine.”
FACT : Medical evidence continues to indicate that getting a COVID-19 vaccine is the best protection from COVID-19, whether you have previously had the infection or not.

MYTH : “Getting the COVID-19 vaccine means I can stop wearing my mask and taking coronavirus precautions.”
FACT : The UK Government recommends you continue to wear face coverings in crowded and enclosed spaces where you may come into contact with other people that you do not normally meet. Face masks must still always be worn in healthcare environments as these settings are more likely to have vulnerable people that can be disproportionately affected by Covid-19.

How long does the covid-19 virus last on different surfaces?

It is not certain how long the virus that causes COVID-19 survives on surfaces, but it seems likely to behave like other coronaviruses. A recent review of the survival of human coronaviruses on surfaces found large variability, ranging from 2 hours to 9 days (11).

The survival time depends on a number of factors, including the type of surface, temperature, relative humidity and specific strain of the virus.
