๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ Walking and running provide bilateral stimulation, a rhythmic, alternating left-right body movement that engages both brain hemispheres, helping to calm the nervous system, process emotions, reduce stress, and improve cognitive function, often intuitively used for anxiety relief or to break rumination cycles.

๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ Pilates and yoga significantly boosts the mind-body connection through mindful movement, focusing on breath and precision, leading to reduced stress, improved mood, better focus, enhanced body awareness (proprioception), and stronger core/posture. By syncing mental focus with controlled physical action, Pilates and yoga calm the nervous system, builds neuromuscular pathways for efficiency, and fosters overall mental and physical well-being, making it a form of moving meditation that improves quality of life.

โœจ 4 weeks of hard but rewarding therapeutic work improving self esteem. โœจ

Todayโ€™s task was exploring and building on our positive qualities. When we struggle with low self esteem we tend to minimise our positive qualities and magnify our negative aspects. Well today we worked hard and rebalanced those scales. โš–๏ธ

Was great to hear positive feedback and see self esteem scores improve on the self assessment and hand the ladies certificates at the end for all their hard work. ๐Ÿ“ˆ

Itโ€™s such a privilege to run groups and meet people from all walks of life. Thanks to SFAD for having me, blessed to work with partners in the community. ๐Ÿค

๐Ÿค Pinch myself moment today when I realised I was working with two amazing Inverclyde charities in one day.

This morning I started volunteering as trainee Somatic Trauma Therapist with the guys at IFit. Hopefully they will feel the benefits as we progress, bringing some calm and safety to the body and mind. ๐Ÿง  ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™‚๏ธ

This afternoon was week 3 of the self esteem group with Scottish families. This week we looked at behavioural activation for improving self esteem. ๐Ÿ’ซ

Feeling tired but super grateful this evening. โ™ฅ๏ธ

Today was an exciting day as I started a four week block of working with Scottish Families affected by Alcohol and Drugs.

We are learning about self esteem and ways to improve it.

We will do this by -

๐Ÿ”† Learning what healthy versus unhealthy self esteem is and the cycles that keep it going
๐Ÿ”†Modifying core beliefs
๐Ÿ”†Behavioural activation
๐Ÿ”†Building a positive self image

This may seem a strange concept but long term the impacts will be life changing.

CBT can help you look at adjusting behaviours and help you lead a more fulfilling life. Behavioural activation can help you explore where you are at just now and where you can make improvements. Improving behaviours can help us improve our routine, self esteem, our mental and physical health, increase motivation and have a better sense of mastery over our lives.

But you guys are more than a statistic.

๐Ÿ’ซYou were a mum, a daughter, you were smart, trendy, artistic, intelligent, funny, caring especially for animals. You will always be remembered. โ™ฅ๏ธ

๐Ÿ’ซ You were a step dad , a son, a brother, funny, cheeky, loved your dance tunes, loved a selfie, you were loyal and caring. You will not be forgotten. โ™ฅ๏ธ

All Scotlandโ€™s drug deaths are preventable with the right help.

If you stigmatise those who are addicted whether it be to substances or behaviours please educate yourself about trauma and addiction, how it rewires your brain and just how difficult it is to overcome it.

๐Ÿค Recovery is possible but it takes a lot of hard work and dedication. Itโ€™s important to have the right people around you, people who help you feel safe and connected, this is where we can begin our journey. ๐Ÿ‘ฃ

Outstanding performance, I felt all the emotions last night.

I was lucky I got to see a wee snippet years ago on a visit to Sisco and now to see it performed in a theatre is mind blowing. Seeing the guys up there acting out true life stories was deeply moving.

Please know there is always help out there if you are feeling suicidal reach out. The world is a better place with you in it. โ™ฅ๏ธ
