✨ Introducing Mind & Body Alignment ✨

I’m excited to share the next chapter of my work with a new name and brand: Mind & Body Alignment.

My practice brings together Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Somatic Trauma Therapy to support people in reconnecting with themselves, processing trauma, and creating lasting change in both mind and body.

I’m also now newly qualified in Somatic Therapy, which I’m delighted to begin offering as part of my work. This approach focuses on how trauma and stress are held in the body, helping you gently restore balance, safety, and regulation.

📍 In-person sessions: Greenock (2-3 days per week)

Wondering if any postpartum mums would be interested in a therapeutic support group where you can bring the babies along? It would be a safe , supportive non judgemental environment where you would be able to learn some skills , share any struggles and connect with others.

I am qualified in CBT and somatic trauma therapy and have many years experience running therapeutic groups.

👩‍🎓 I DID IT!!!! I am now a qualified somatic trauma therapist.

✍️ 10 months of hard work, hours of practice , writing up case studies, volunteering, lots of learning and self development.

📈 It’s amazing the progress you can make in that time, ten months ago I was still struggling with postpartum anxiety so juggling being a mum and a student with long days in Edinburgh away from my wee guy was a struggle, but as time has gone on I gained confidence and my nervous system has learned to relax a little more. (Always work to do!)

📚 It’s such a privilege to learn and be around like minded others on the same mission, grateful to every tutor and classmate.

⚽️ The therapy centre was based beside Hibs stadium which made for interesting learning conditions. We enjoyed the police horses being parked outside. (Hence the theme throughout my pics 😂)

🤝 I’m lucky I have the chance to work with the guys at Ifit again offering my skills on a one to one basis, so thank you for the opportunity .

Couldn’t have done it without the help of my partner and family taking care of the wee man. ♥️

Movement is medicine! And best of all it’s FREE!!

There are endless benefits for your mental and physical health.

Here are some examples 👇🏼

🏃‍♂️ Walking and running provide bilateral stimulation, a rhythmic, alternating left-right body movement that engages both brain hemispheres, helping to calm the nervous system, process emotions, reduce stress, and improve cognitive function, often intuitively used for anxiety relief or to break rumination cycles.

🧘🏼‍♀️ Pilates and yoga significantly boosts the mind-body connection through mindful movement, focusing on breath and precision, leading to reduced stress, improved mood, better focus, enhanced body awareness (proprioception), and stronger core/posture. By syncing mental focus with controlled physical action, Pilates and yoga calm the nervous system, builds neuromuscular pathways for efficiency, and fosters overall mental and physical well-being, making it a form of moving meditation that improves quality of life.

🙌 Somatic movement helps trauma survivors by reconnecting mind and body, releasing stored physical tension, and regulating the nervous system, leading to less anxiety, improved emotional regulation, reduced PTSD symptoms, greater resilience, and a renewed sense of safety and presence, often through gentle awareness of internal sensations and gradual processing of trauma without re-traumatisation.

✨ 4 weeks of hard but rewarding therapeutic work improving self esteem. ✨

Today’s task was exploring and building on our positive qualities. When we struggle with low self esteem we tend to minimise our positive qualities and magnify our negative aspects. Well today we worked hard and rebalanced those scales. ⚖️

Was great to hear positive feedback and see self esteem scores improve on the self assessment and hand the ladies certificates at the end for all their hard work. 📈

It’s such a privilege to run groups and meet people from all walks of life. Thanks to SFAD for having me, blessed to work with partners in the community. 🤝

🤏 Pinch myself moment today when I realised I was working with two amazing Inverclyde charities in one day.

This morning I started volunteering as trainee Somatic Trauma Therapist with the guys at IFit. Hopefully they will feel the benefits as we progress, bringing some calm and safety to the body and mind. 🧠 🧘‍♂️

This afternoon was week 3 of the self esteem group with Scottish families. This week we looked at behavioural activation for improving self esteem. 💫

Feeling tired but super grateful this evening. ♥️

Today was an exciting day as I started a four week block of working with Scottish Families affected by Alcohol and Drugs.

We are learning about self esteem and ways to improve it.

We will do this by -

🔆 Learning what healthy versus unhealthy self esteem is and the cycles that keep it going
🔆Modifying core beliefs
🔆Behavioural activation
🔆Building a positive self image
