Wondering if any postpartum mums would be interested in a therapeutic support group where you can bring the babies along? It would be a safe , supportive non judgemental environment where you would be able to learn some skills , share any struggles and connect with others.

I am qualified in CBT and somatic trauma therapy and have many years experience running therapeutic groups.

✍️ 10 months of hard work, hours of practice , writing up case studies, volunteering, lots of learning and self development.

πŸ“ˆ It’s amazing the progress you can make in that time, ten months ago I was still struggling with postpartum anxiety so juggling being a mum and a student with long days in Edinburgh away from my wee guy was a struggle, but as time has gone on I gained confidence and my nervous system has learned to relax a little more. (Always work to do!)

πŸ“š It’s such a privilege to learn and be around like minded others on the same mission, grateful to every tutor and classmate.

⚽️ The therapy centre was based beside Hibs stadium which made for interesting learning conditions. We enjoyed the police horses being parked outside. (Hence the theme throughout my pics πŸ˜‚)

🀝 I’m lucky I have the chance to work with the guys at Ifit again offering my skills on a one to one basis, so thank you for the opportunity .

Couldn’t have done it without the help of my partner and family taking care of the wee man. β™₯️

✨ 4 weeks of hard but rewarding therapeutic work improving self esteem. ✨

Today’s task was exploring and building on our positive qualities. When we struggle with low self esteem we tend to minimise our positive qualities and magnify our negative aspects. Well today we worked hard and rebalanced those scales. βš–οΈ

Was great to hear positive feedback and see self esteem scores improve on the self assessment and hand the ladies certificates at the end for all their hard work. πŸ“ˆ

It’s such a privilege to run groups and meet people from all walks of life. Thanks to SFAD for having me, blessed to work with partners in the community. 🀝

🀏 Pinch myself moment today when I realised I was working with two amazing Inverclyde charities in one day.

This morning I started volunteering as trainee Somatic Trauma Therapist with the guys at IFit. Hopefully they will feel the benefits as we progress, bringing some calm and safety to the body and mind. 🧠 πŸ§˜β€β™‚οΈ

This afternoon was week 3 of the self esteem group with Scottish families. This week we looked at behavioural activation for improving self esteem. πŸ’«

Today was an exciting day as I started a four week block of working with Scottish Families affected by Alcohol and Drugs.

We are learning about self esteem and ways to improve it.

We will do this by -

This may seem a strange concept but long term the impacts will be life changing.

CBT can help you look at adjusting behaviours and help you lead a more fulfilling life. Behavioural activation can help you explore where you are at just now and where you can make improvements. Improving behaviours can help us improve our routine, self esteem, our mental and physical health, increase motivation and have a better sense of mastery over our lives.
