Dashain is a time of reflection, family, and gratitude—and it was heart-warming to see our colleagues share their traditions with such joy and pride. From the beautiful music to the delicious food, and the stories behind the festival, it was a truly enriching experience for everyone in the home. 💞

These moments remind us how powerful connection can be, and how learning from one another brings us closer together.

🎉✨ Celebrating Dashain at Kincaid ✨🎉

This week, our home was filled with colour, music and joy as we celebrated the vibrant Dashain festival with our wonderful international colleagues

Pamela, Shree and Manisa treated us to delicious traditional Nepalese dishes, which were enjoyed by residents and colleagues alike. We also had the pleasure of listening to traditional music and joining in with dancing —a truly special afternoon full of laughter and learning. 💖

Dashain honours the goddess Durga and is one of the most important festivals in Nepal, running from 1st to 15th October. It was a privilege to learn more about its meaning and significance directly from our team

💪Fun Fitness with Fiona! 💪

We had an energetic and joy-filled exercise class with the fantastic Fiona from Fun Fitness!

Fiona joined our residents in Arran’s dining room, leading a brilliant session that included warm-ups, resistance band exercises, yoga ball routines, stretching, and even some pom-pom fun! 🎶

Everyone had a wonderful time moving, laughing, and staying active together. We’re already looking forward to Fiona’s next visit!

Harvest Moon Creativity in Full Bloom 🌕🎨

We were delighted to welcome back Lucy from Creative Mojo for another fantastic Arts & Crafts session.

Our residents had a brilliant time painting a variety of shapes including a moon, fox, owl, mice, flowers, leaves, and fans—all brought to life with beautiful colours and patterns. 🍂🖌️

Lucy then combined all the artwork into one stunning piece, now proudly displayed for our Harvest Moon celebration. It’s a wonderful reflection of creativity and teamwork, and it’s brought a lovely seasonal touch to our space!

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the activity, and we’re already looking forward to the next class!

🌳✨ Generation of Life Tree – Our Secret Project Revealed! 🎨💚

In celebration of Arts in Care Home Day, our wonderful residents at Kincaid House teamed up with the bright young stars of Glen Brae Nursery to create something truly magical… the Generation of Life Tree!

This stunning piece of collaborative artwork is a joyful tribute to creativity, sustainability, and togetherness. Made from recycled paper, shimmering glass stones, lentils, peas, twigs, and leaves from our garden — and brought to life with the colourful fingerprints of Glen Brae’s children — it’s a beautiful reminder that imagination knows no age 💫🌱

Each fingerprint is a symbol of individuality, and every recycled element reflects our shared care for the planet. Together, they form a mosaic of hope, showing that beauty can blossom from what we often overlook — and that even the smallest hands can leave the biggest impact

We recently held our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning in Arran’s dining room, and it was a truly special event.

Residents from all units came together, joined by family members, to enjoy a lovely morning filled with laughter, conversation, and delicious home baking lovingly prepared by our talented kitchen colleagues 🫖🍰

It was wonderful to see everyone catching up and sharing smiles over a cuppa and a slice of cake!

Thanks to your incredible generosity, we raised £134 for Macmillan Cancer Support – a fantastic cause that means so much to us all

🥨 Oktoberfest Fun at Kincaid House! 🥨

We brought a taste of Germany to our home as we celebrated Oktoberfest together!

Residents enjoyed sampling delicious German cakes—including our own versions of Bienenstich and Butterkuchen—alongside classic pretzels. There was even the choice of a German beer or a refreshing German wine beverage!

It was a wonderful afternoon filled with laughter, new flavours, and great company. Thank you to our fantastic colleagues for making the day so special for everyone. 🍷🍺

🌳✨ Celebrating World Alzheimer's Day at Kincaid House! ✨🌳

Our home was filled with smiles and special moments as we marked World Alzheimer’s Day together. Residents enjoyed a variety of memory-based activities, sparking wonderful conversations and laughter throughout the day.

We’re especially proud of our brand new Kincaid House Memory Tree, now on display in the main reception area of the Arran Suite. Each resident added a cherished memory to the tree—some even left their fingerprint and name on their tags, making it truly unique and personal. 🍃💚

A huge thank you to our amazing colleagues for supporting everyone to share their stories and create new memories together. It’s these moments that make our community so special.

We celebrated Country Music Day in true toe-tapping style with our good friend Bill McKillop, who joined us for an afternoon of music, memories, and fun! 🎸🎵

Our creative residents gathered together for a hands-on Arts & Crafts session, getting stuck into some stone painting and papier-mâché for a special project we’re working on...

There were plenty of messy hands, lots of laughter, and even more imagination as we brought our ideas to life 💫

🍂 Creative Adventures at Glen Brae Nursery!🍂

Roy, Valerie and Pamela had a brilliant time on their recent visit to Glen Brae Nursery, where they joined in with some Arts & Crafts and messy play fun! 🎨🖌️

From collecting twigs and leaves for a special project to whipping up imaginary soups and stews in the mud kitchen, there was plenty of laughter and creativity all around 🥣🌿

They even had a blast playing in the Den, making memories and enjoying the outdoors together.

We’re already looking forward to our next trip!
