Throughout the sessions on my hypnobirthing course, 2 long days for a group course or between 2 to 5 sessions for one-to-one's, I talk about the importance of practice.

Firstly, finding time in your day/week to fit the breathing, relaxation and massage practice in. This could be formally scheduling time, or simply doing the practice alongside something else eg. Listening to affirmations as you wash up.

I also encourage couples to think through all the information, consider what their preferences would be in different scenarios and build their connection tools. My post course email includes lots of resources to help with further research and conversations.

Doing this work helps the information to sink in. It also makes the tools easier to access in labour.

And luckily I'm not the only one who goes on about practice, this great blog from Lamaze gives even more reasons and tips to help with knowledge retention. https://www.lamaze.org/Giving-Birth-with-Confidence/GBWC-Post/so-youve-taken-a-childbirth-class-now-what-1

Interesting that fewer babies are born on Christmas Day. Seems like births that include hospital procedures can be rescheduled around the holidays. Makes me wonder why there is so much pressure when a mother wants to wait for her own reasons. https://www.livescience.com/why-so-few-births-christmas-new-years.html

Christmas and New Year's are days of celebration in many parts of the world when people gather with family and friends. One thing many typically don't celebrate on those days is a birthday.

Daniela got pregnant very quickly after removing her IUD. She had a fairly easy pregnancy with the usual symptoms of waddling, weight gain, and a small bladder! Let it go. Whatever it is that you should've let go long ago. Let it go. the freedom that comes next is something wild and true.

Releasing fears about birth is liberating. It isn't something that happens immediately, but is more of a mental shift that slowly takes over every aspect of your life filling you with confidence and amazement at the possibilities available to you.

Using hypnosis, learning about the process of birth, listening to empowering statements, understanding your choices, are all ways to shift the fear and develop a confidence in your ability to birth.

Pregnancy can come with aches and pains as your body stretches, looses and generally changes to accommodate your growing baby. Sciatica, joint pain, heart burn, swollen breasts, pelvic girdle pain, leg cramps... it can feel like a lot.

Take care of yourself as much as you can and listen to your body.

Perhaps see an osteopath who can help with alignment or give an indicator of if you need more support.

These discomforts are not the best part of pregnancy, but they are only for a time. See if you can find ways to focus on more positive aspects to keep you going.

Found this beautiful quote from an unknown author

'The journey of a premature baby is often one step forward and two steps back.

Watch them breathe,
Watch them sleep,
Nourish them with liquid gold.

When strong enough they will take three leaps forward and never look back.'

Some babies come early and need lots of love and support. It's not easy, but there is a fighting strength in their tiny bodies and in the hearts of the parents that they are sent too.

You can get through every phase of life if you take it one breath and one step at a time.

I love Autumn, how fresh and vibrant it is before the seasons change. A glow that reminds me of pregnancy, birth and after. A golden celebration before the transformation of birth and then the inward reflection of winter as you settle in with your new baby.

There is a lot to do in the final weeks of pregnancy, often with others opinions coming along for the ride. You can feel pressured or stressed very easily as the shift in season approaches.

So take a moment to stop, breath and reconnect with your baby. Focus on the birth you want to achieve, keep your mindset golden like the leaves on the trees as you celebrate your body; preparing yourself for a transformation. Preparing yourself to move through, the birth change process.

With a positive mindset it is easier to make decisons, easier to move fluidly and adapt.

And with a mindset of preparation it is easier to gain information. Knowledge to support your decisons and confidence to stay strong.

You are everything you need.

And after the season has changed, as winter settles in, take the same mindset with you. Remain positive, basking in the glow, breathing in the newborn scent. But also accepting that change can be hard and can takes time. Time to accept the new, to adjust to the different. Time to carve out your new routines and relax into a new way of life.

And although there will be lows, because there will be, it can still be beautiful.

Everything is a phase in life, a season that with preparation, good support and love will pass. Winter and the season after birth is reflection and restoration in preparation for rebirth.

So if you are moving through a change like this and you want to shift your mindset about birth, want to gather knowledge and tools to influence it and you want to know how to prepare for the day and life after, then come on a course with me. You'll get all that and more.

As the movements get stronger and more regular enjoy them!

You may be feeling kicks and rolls at regular times in the day now. You don’t need to count them, but get to know what is a normal pattern for you. Remember every baby is different so there is no set way for baby to move.

Keep finding the time to connect with your baby, stroke your growing bump and talk to your baby, as baby’s respond to touch and sounds. Help he or she get to know the sound of your voice, and your partner’s voice, by reading out loud or talking to your bump. Your baby will recognise your voices when he or she is born helping with a feeling of safety.

Baby is moving!

Soo exciting! Butterflies in your belly, twitches or feeling like you have rolling bubbles is how many people describe it.

First movements tend to be felt from as early as 16 weeks to about 26 weeks, so if you haven’t felt much yet, don’t worry, especially if it is your first pregnancy.

You’ll probably feel movements better if you’re lying down or sitting in a quiet position, after a meal. So, take some time to consciously rest and connect with your baby.

Baby’s movements make pregnancy feel real and can give you something positive to focus on if struggling with nausea or tiredness. Perhaps listen to a hypnosis relaxation that celebrates how amazing your body is growing a baby, building confidence in your ability to do amazing things.

Are you a black pregnant mother-to-be in South East London? Do you want to feel confident and relaxed about giving birth? I know it's last minute, but if you are free tomorrow and Sunday come and be part of a supportive group.

This , I've dedicated 2 spaces on my October and December courses to give back to my community, and the response has been fantastic. One spot went the first day I put it up, but perhaps the other October place is waiting for you?

We'll be looking at how our body and mind are connected, what practical things you can do to feel comfortable during labour and how to feel confident making decisions.

You can come by yourself but your birth partner is alswelcome.

Follow the October course link to book on and as a black mother you can pay what you can to attend. https://www.tickettailor.com/events/yetundelewishypnobirthing/539134/

This course will make a huge difference to how you think about birth and how you prepare for your birth experience.

Hope to see you tomorrow

We are in baby loss awareness week and although it can be difficult to talk about loss, we need to. Losing a baby changes everything and finding who you are thorough grief is a journey in itself. You have to look after yourself and your wellbeing.

is exploring ways to look after yourself all week, and some jump straight out as suggestions I would also make:

* Avoiding content that may be upsetting or difficult to protect your mental space

* Use affirmations or meditation to calm your mind

* Connect with nature and breathe deeply for 5 minutes to ground yourself. What do you see? What do you hear?

Everyone responds differently to loss. Some people find talking or writing helpful, while others just need to know that they are not alone. You can get through anything with support.

If you need support to work through a difficult memory, I am always here and can help you run through a self-led process that can make a difference.
