❓Did you know that we also run an 'Inside Out' creative arts group? 🎨

This group has been very popular and well attended. It's all about rediscovering creativity, developing a deeper awareness of self, being less judgemental of our own work, celebrating our individualities and finding enjoyment and relaxation through creativity.

Our latest group ran from May to July and here are some piccies, feedback and some thoughts from Mari (one of our wonderful course leaders).

🌞 The summer holidays are almost here…….🌞

Whatever you're feeling right now – relieved, excited, stressed, worried, anxious (or all of the above) - it's completely normal. The shift from school routine to holiday routine can bring up a lot of emotions, and that's okay.

Maybe you're feeling pressure to create the "perfect" summer for your kids, juggling childcare arrangements, or worrying about the financial strain of days out and activities. You're not alone in this.

Here are some gentle reminders for getting through:

❤️Give yourself permission to feel - Sit with whatever emotions come up without trying to fix them immediately. Anxiety about the holidays? Valid. Guilt about screen time? Valid. Feeling overwhelmed? Completely understandable. Be kind to yourself, we’re all just doing the best we can.

🙌Self-care isn't selfish - Even if it's just 10 minutes with a cup of tea, a quick walk, or saying no to that extra activity. You can't pour from an empty cup.
Drop the guilt - You don't need to live up to unrealistic expectations seen on social media. Sometimes a quiet day at home is exactly what everyone needs to recoup and reconnect.

🤩Lower the bar - Not every day needs to be an adventure. Sometimes the best memories come from the simplest moments. Building a forte with blankets and pegs, making mud pies in the garden, helping to clean the house with dusters and sweeping brushes, doing a jigsaw together… some great childhood memories of our staff team.

🙋‍♀️Ask for help - Whether it's swapping childcare with other parents, reaching out to family, discussions with work or talking to someone when it all feels too much.

👏Remember: you're doing better than you think and you are enough. Raising children takes a village, yet so often we’re expected to do it with limited support. Let’s all support each other.

❤️ ‘Empty Nest’ Season ❤️

With the summer holidays approaching, many parents, carers and family members are facing the idea that their young person may soon be leaving the nest to fly to university, or for job opportunities. The unsettlement this can cause to our emotions is profound, yet not talked about enough.

We all want to see our children thrive and grow, of course we do, yet with this can come a huge array of mixed emotions such as fear, worry, anxiety, unsettlement and even loss (along with also feeling proud, excited and hopeful for your young one!) These feelings are all perfectly normal and are part of adjusting to the new circumstances.

Here are some helpful tips whilst navigating this time......

❓What is play therapy❓

Play therapy is one of the ways we can offer therapeutic support to children. But what does it involve?......

🧠Play therapy is a developmentally sensitive form of psychotherapy specifically designed for children and can help with anxious feelings, worries, traumatic experiences, behavioural struggles, grief and loss and family transitions, such as parental separation.

🗣While adults often rely on verbal communication to convey their feelings, children may struggle to put words to their emotions. Play therapy provides a safe outlet for them to express their intense feelings and explore their inner world.

👑Using toys and creative materials, play therapy unlocks the child’s ability to symbolically represent their experiences, relationships, and emotions.

🙋‍♀️This therapeutic approach is tailored to each child’s unique needs and helps them develop new coping mechanisms while redirecting inappropriate behaviours.

😃Positive outcomes can include increased happiness, motivation, engagement in new activities, improved independence and more positive social interactions.

Please get in touch if you’d like to know more or to make a referral.
