⭐Our next meet the team star is ..... Jess.... a Therapeutic Counsellor.

"I am a qualified person-centred counsellor, with a BA (Honours) in Counselling, and I work with adults.

My approach is based on the person-centred model, a model that aligns with my values, as I feel person-centred therapy provides a safe space for you to lead your own therapeutic journey at your own pace. From my own experience with counselling, I learnt that while I am not perfect, I am enough. The personal development I gained from counselling inspired me to train to become a counsellor, so that I could support others in the way my counsellor once supported me.

I am passionate about offering an empathic, non-judgemental environment, where a trusting therapeutic relationship can grow, where you feel valued, safe, and truly heard, to facilitate your personal growth, self-acceptance, for you to find your own answers and realise your full potential.

Outside of my work, I enjoy spending time with my fiancé and our dog. I am also a big Harry Potter fan, which is where one of my favourite quotes came from, which is “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light”, as a counsellor I’m here to ‘walk’ with you in finding your light, in a way that feels right for you."🌞

⭐Today's dream team member is..... Neil.... a Psychotherapist. Here's his bio:

"I am a humanistic and integrative psychotherapist, primarily using Transactional Analysis (TA) alongside complementary approaches, including mindfulness, where necessary.

TA is a model that, in its simplest form, examines patterns of thought, feeling, and behaviour through three ‘ego states’, Parent, Adult and Child, helping clients recognise unhelpful patterns and develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. Mindfulness complements this by supporting clients to stay present, rather than becoming caught up in past difficulties or future anxieties.

Being a part of the remarkable team at Cudox, I have the privilege of providing psychotherapy support to adults in our community who may be experiencing difficulties.

I am the proud owner of a Boston Terrier called Derek, to whom I am devoted in spite of his snoring and toxic emissions." 🐕

⭐Next up is......TJ...... who is a Dramatherapist!

"My name is TJ and I am currently in the process of finishing my Dramatherapy MA at University.

Dramatherapy is an exciting alternative to traditional talking therapies; it considers devices such as role-play, storytelling, and mask-making to allow for the exploration of emerging metaphors, emotions or experiences in a safe and distanced way.

Though my journey has just begun, I have had the pleasure of being a witness and facilitator of drama therapy’s transcendental effects, particularly amongst neurodiverse children and, most recently, people with dementia."

Today's meet the team star is..... Rebecca .....

⭐Rebecca is a Psychotherapist and Community Mental Health Coordinator for Children and Young People. Here's her bio:

"I am a children and young people’s therapist, delivering both one to one and group therapy at the Cudox base, in schools and sometimes alongside community organisations. I am qualified to post-graduate level and experienced in work with adults, children and adolescents.

Alongside my role as a therapist, I also have the role of Community Mental Health Coordinator for Children and Young People. This involves managing the services we provide to this group, liaising with schools and managing the referrals that we take… so it is me you will probably make first contact with if referring a young person!

I work from an integrative approach, meaning I am trained to merge different types of therapy. I place focus on the quality of the relationship between myself and my clients; believing that understanding, trust and acceptance are vital components in therapy.

I am passionate about my work and strongly believe that working therapeutically at an early stage, when issues first become apparent, can help to prevent further difficulties in a young person’s future. I work with young people bringing a wide range of diverse issues, to overcome their difficulties within a safe and secure therapeutic relationship, in a way which they can understand – and most importantly, feel understood.

Outside of work I am a busy Mum. However, in my spare time you will catch me on water or sand, usually on a paddleboard! I have a sneaky obsession with all things ocean, especially sharks!" 🦈

Today's team member is .....Alice....

⭐Alice is an Adult & Relationship Therapist. Here's her bio:

"I am a qualified counsellor in person centered approach as well as a diploma in CBT and couples counselling. I have a passion for couples counselling and understand how relationship therapy can enhance any couple experiencing any difficulties.

I offer a safe space for the couple to explore their issues individually and together.

I understand the importance of mental wellbeing, by providing varied approaches to counselling, each client’s needs can be met, and counselling can be uniquely tailored to them.

By offering a safe, non-judgmental, confidential, and welcoming space, each client is listened to and valued enabling a client to start their personal development.

I have always had a passion for counselling after experiencing it myself on a personal level. The change it made to my life propelled me into studying counselling to offer this to others.

I am aware couples face many different challenges within their relationship. By providing a confidential, empathic approach for the couple to work in, I believe couples can start to communicate effectively."

Next up for Day 4 of our Meet the Team feature is...... Rachel......

⭐Rachel is a Student Child and Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. Here's her bio:

"Hello, I’m Rachel and I’m a trainee therapist at Cudox. I am in the final stages of my training as a Child & Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, having completed the 3-year taught component of my Level 6 training in 2024.

My approach is integrative and relational, meaning I use a variety of theories to inform how I help you and your child explore and cope with the problems they are facing.

I was drawn to train as a counsellor through working with care experienced young people and those who were experiencing homelessness, drug and alcohol dependency, domestic abuse and/or childhood trauma who expressed a need for support, but didn’t wish to attend counselling due to bad experiences with the system and cycle they found themselves in.

A key part of working with children is working creatively and allowing for emotional distance to explore issues. It often takes time for trust to build between the child and a new adult in their life, so it’s important the child has time to feel safe with me so they can feel ready to express their true thoughts and feelings in a way which feels right for them.

In my spare time I like to go away in my caravan, going to see music, comedy and theatre performances and I’m learning to sew.

📚I try to read and the books I couldn’t put down were the Rivers of London series – which is like Harry Potter for grownups!

Sound is my biggest sensory input and I attend Sound Baths which resonates with the body’s energies and induces a deep state of relaxation and contemplation and helps to reduce tension, improved mood, and a heightened sense of spiritual well-being."

⭐️Next up is Mari......

Mari is a Therapeutic Counsellor. Here's a bit about her:

"I consider being a counsellor a great privilege. I passionately believe that person-centred counselling can offer you a place to be heard and the freedom to be an expert in your life.

My aim is to create a safe and trusting counselling relationship by providing genuine, empathic and non-judgmental ethical practice.

This non-directive relationship will allow you to take a lead by talking and exploring issues in your life. Discussing concerns with me in a confidential space can help you to gain a better understanding of your thought processes and feelings as well as identifying ways to find your own solutions to your problems.

However, I am also aware that at times it might be challenging to express yourself purely with words. In those times you might feel that person-centred creative art therapy could offer an alternative approach." 🎨

Next up in out Meet the Team is.....

⭐️Bev- Therapeutic Counsellor and Community Mental Health Coordinator.

Here's Bev's bio:

"We all have physical health…We all have mental health… and both can become unwell at times!

We can all have difficulties, worries, challenges in our lives that can leave us feeling overwhelmed, anxious, confused, alone, disconnected from ourselves or others.

Individually we experience things very differently, I recognise your uniqueness and I feel that together we can explore how you are experiencing things…what it’s like for you!

As an experienced Counsellor, I work from a person-centred approach with the belief that we all have within ourselves the ability to find a way forward that’s best for us.

We are all unique and have differing needs; by providing Counselling in an integrative way it enables the best therapeutic process for your individual needs.

I have previously worked with various degrees of emotional and psychological distress, anxiety, depression, bereavement and loss, the impact from physical, sexual, psychological abuse, trauma, social struggles, eating disorders, addiction, and psychological impact from having a long term health condition…to name a few.

Although some may find a diagnosis of their mental health helpful or validating, I believe that a label or diagnosis doesn’t define you as a person and we all experience things differently from one another.

I offer one to one adult Counselling, a safe space in a confidential environment where you are allowed time to be able to explore any issues, difficult emotions and feel listened to, truly heard, accepted, validated and valued."

We know how much you all loved meeting our 🐾Cudox Companions 🐾 during December, so now let us introduce our .

Starting with..........

🌟Angie Graham- Psychotherapist, Clinical Supervisor and Managing Director of Cudox.

Here's what Angie had to say:

"My work with clients is relational, explorative and empathically challenging. Therapy for me is a space that can enable new discoveries, allowing an ‘uncovering’ of experiences, patterns and emotions that are often out of our awareness. All of which can be deeply insightful.

The therapeutic relationship is wonderfully unique, providing a climate of safety in which to be truly heard, understood, and accepted. It is a connection that helps to develop trust in yourself and to help you to find your own answers as you are the expert of your life and inner world.

🍂It is a space to pause, reflect and gain clarity.

You may choose to give voice to the parts of you that are hidden, but this is always at your own pace and I will respect your process. I understand it is only when you feel fully heard and valued that you can take the risk in sharing your deeper thoughts and feelings, and can begin the process towards self-acceptance.

I am often asked if I specialise in issues of mental health distress, such as anxiety, bereavement and addiction for example. This is a question I have struggled to answer; my passion and focus in therapy is in creating an atmosphere conducive to openness, challenge, curiosity and acceptance.

Without discounting the relevance of diagnosis or understanding behaviours, in my experience, it almost always connects to something else, past feelings, experiences, traumas, a hidden ‘part of self’ perhaps, and this is, for want of another word, my speciality!"
