๐ŸŒฟ Wellbeing Walks in the Peak District ๐ŸŒฟ

Once a month, our Adult Autism Service (AAS)/ADHD service heads out of Grimsby and into the Peak District for a wellbeing walk โ€“ supporting mental health, confidence and connection with nature.

Led by Steve, a qualified Mountain Leader from our AAS and supported by Lou one of our brilliant Autism Support Workers, these walks are made possible thanks to funding from Sport England. With support from the Care Plus Group Charitable Trust, Lou is training for her Lowland Leader qualification, and one of our service users is training too โ€“ building confidence and independence every step of the way ๐Ÿ‘ฃ๐Ÿ’š

For many participants, this is their first adventure beyond Grimsby in years. Once in the hills, conversations flow, confidence growsโ€ฆ and everyone heads home rosyโ€‘cheeked and happily worn out ๐Ÿš†โœจ

๐Ÿ’› Autism Acceptance Week ๐Ÿ’›

This week, weโ€™re proud to be celebrating Autism Acceptance Week and our collaborative approach with our friends at Faraway & Navigo. Bringing people together through a range of inclusive and welcoming activities and groups.

Get involved with:
โ˜• Coffee mornings
๐ŸŽณ Bowling groups
๐ŸŽฑ Pool groups
๐ŸŽฌ Movie clubs
๐ŸŽจ Arts and crafts sessions

These groups are designed to be inclusive, supportive spaces where autistic adults can connect, feel understood, and be themselves. They also play a vital role in raising awareness of autism within our local community and helping shape our groups that are accessible and welcoming for everyone.

Acceptance means creating environments where differences are valued.

๐Ÿ’› Autism Acceptance Week ๐Ÿ’›

This week is about more than awareness โ€“ itโ€™s about acceptance, understanding and inclusion.

Autistic people experience the world in many different ways, and those differences deserve to be respected and supported. Autism Acceptance Week is a chance for us all to listen and learn how we can create environments where everyone feels understood and included.

Throughout the week, weโ€™ll be sharing stories, insights and a lived-experience interview that celebrate neurodiversity and help build a more inclusive culture โ€“ not just this week, but every day.

Letโ€™s move beyond awareness and continue working towards acceptance. Here is a team that contributes towards this daily. ๐Ÿ’›
