World Diabetes Day 25 is fast approaching.

The Children’s Diabetes team are having a cake sale and raffle on 14th November. Any raffle prizes/ cake donations would be hugely appreciated.

You may or may not be aware, that type one diabetes is an autoimmune condition, and there are approx 130 children locally with Type 1 Diabetes. From the fundraising we did last year on National Diabetes day; we have paid for essential equipment at diagnosis ( carbs and cals book, weighing scales, calculators, pencil case to hold equipment), social events for children/families so they can help and support each other and a Christmas party for our patients. Grimsby is a high poverty area and sadly, lots of our families are unable to purchase these things themselves.

By fundraising, we also hope to raise awareness of type one diabetes in children, as it may just save a child’s life 💙
