Dr Sara Hamza is using her lived experience on the OET-PLAB pathway to support current LRDP members, and in doing so, we hope she is also gaining valuable teaching experience and feedback for her portfolio. An introduction to medical education, with the support of LRDP's experienced Clinical Leads, now forms an important part of our offer to members.

Congratulations to LRDP member Alina who is now fully General Medical Council (GMC)-registered with a licence to practise🥳.
Alina joined LRDP for support with medical English and the GMC's clinical exams required for registration. We were also proud to introduce Alina to United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust - ULHT where she has completed a Clinical Attachment.
Alina: "I have met so many wonderful people here in Britain who have supported me with my registration and helped me with a clinical attachment. Your kindness and dedication have made a significant difference in this way.
This way is only just beginning, and I am happy to offer my support to other doctors who face similar challenges."
Alina, it has been a pleasure and a privilege to support you 🩺

Today is .

An international day designated by the United Nations to honour refugees around the globe. It falls each year on 20 June and shines a light on the rights, needs and dreams of those forced to flee.

On this important day, Lincolnshire Refugee Doctor Project will be working as always to support displaced doctors in the UK. To resume their medical careers, and to flourish and thrive, both professionally and in our communities.

This is our goal.

It was wonderful to catch up with LRDP member Dr Mo Alabd this Refugee Week. Dr Alabd is now a Speciality Doctor in Lincolnshire and a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, having also passed the postgraduate exams . We hope that Mo's achievements can give hope to other doctors in the UK who have been displaced from their home countries.

LRDP is proud to have played a role in his journey.

We are so pleased to share that another LRDP member has passed the clinical English exam . Dr Alami has joined LRDP's OET course and has also been supported by LRDP's inhouse OET tutor, Carolyn. He has combined intensive preparation for this exam alongside his role as a Mental Healthcare Assistant. We now look forward to supporting Dr Alami on our Clinical Programme, where he will prepare for the GMC's clinical exams.

On 13th June, LRDP's Ruth Ingamells was delighted to attend the launch event of Nottingham Refugee Week, which has been organised in collaboration with Nottingham & Nottinghamshire Refugee Forum to mark Refugee Week It was a well-attended event showcasing stalls from around the world, amazing food, activities and music and it was lovely to meet so many people, both from projects who support and those from the refugee communities. Chair of Nottingham Refugee Week, James Rowland, said “We are delighted to have so many people come and join us today at the launch event for a very special week ahead. There are lots of events happening around Nottingham this week, finishing with the closing party at Nottingham Contemporary on 22nd June from 4-8pm. Everyone would be very welcome to join us”.

LRDP's Clinical Team were at Lincoln County Hospital last week to learn more about integrating SimMan into teaching sessions. SimMan is an adult patient simulator which is commonly used in healthcare training in the UK especially for training of emergency cases. It is connected to a monitor so you can see its vital signs and ECG, and will react to medical interventions and treatments. LRDP members can practise using the mannikin to prepare for the GMC's final clinical exam, PLAB 2.
Huge thanks as always to the fantastic postgraduate education department at United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust - ULHT - for this excellent opportunity and for making LRDP's staff and members so welcome.
