We’ve created a new series of substance information cards to give you clear, honest information about drugs and alcohol – and how to reduce the risks when you use them.

Each card explains what a substance does, how it can make you feel, what the risks are and gives practical harm reduction advice to keep you informed and safe.
The cards have been put together by our expert teams and people with lived experience – so the information is clear, current and trusted.

They’re available as printed copies from our Grimsby and Cleethorpes hubs, or to view and download from our website.

There are reports of a number of overdoses in areas across Grimsby linked to contaminated drugs.

As well as offering support and treatment options, we also provide harm reduction advice to help to keep you safe. If you are currently using drugs:

▶ Start with a low dose and take it slow
▶ Avoid mixing with other substances
▶ Test before using if you can
▶ Stay hydrated and try to eat and sleep after using
▶ Try not to do it alone, find a buddy
▶ Look out for signs of overdose: unconscious or unresponsive, light shallow breathing or no breathing at all, loud raspy ‘snoring’ sounds, blue or pale fingers or lips
▶ Naloxone: get it, carry it, know how to use it

⚠️ Always call 999 immediately if you think someone has overdosed.

Our National Harm Reduction Lead, Elli McNally, featured on ITV News.

Elli spoke to ITV about the rise in drug‑related deaths and overdoses in Grimsby, and why getting naloxone into more people's hands is vital.

Naloxone is a small kit that can reverse an opioid overdose and save a life. Elli‑Jay highlighted how important it is that we keep increasing access to it across our communities.
