Thank you to the Primary Care Women’s Health Society for asking me to speak at the Women’s Health Professional Care conference today at Olympia.
As primary care professionals it is so important we support eachother to learn and develop in this rapidly changing world with new evidence and updated guidelines changing the way we care for our patients.
If you work in primary care and support women (which you will!) then do consider joining us at the Primary Care Women’s Health Society so you can benefit from all of the teaching, support (from the fabulous page) and enthusiasm about women’s health care.
Today I spoke about ‘Complex Contraception in metabolic and thrombotic risk’. Thank you Dr Caroline Cooper for chairing this talk. In the afternoon I sat on the panel to discuss ‘Cardiometabolic and weight changes at Menopause’ with Dr Lindsey Thomas, Dr Sundhya Raman and Beverley Thomas and thank you to Dr Aaliya Goyal for chairing this talk.
Preparing for these was excellent, I needed to go through the UKMEC 2025 with a fine tooth comb, and watch the PCWHS talk and CoSRH talks on the updates and write the PCWHS top tips on UKMEC 2025 changes. I also needed to review my diploma and papers on cardiometabolic change at menopause and consider lifestyle changes and reread a book about this.
My enthusiasm for this topic started suddenly as I listened to a talk by Professor John Stevenson a few years ago, and then struggled to stop thinking about his presentation and spent hours listening to lots of his presentations. I developed a love for metabolic syndrome (and for teaching).
I’m really grateful to everyone who attended today to listen to my talks, it’s lovely to see some familiar faces when I’m speaking 💜
If you came to say hello, or if I didn’t see you, thank you so much, it was so lovely to meet you and to see so many people who do so many wonderful things to support others.
