This , we celebrate Fleur, who took on the Swim Serpentine challenge in September to raise funds for Shooting Star, as her son Toby was cared for by us throughout his diagnosis and in his final days🩵

She dove into the Serpentine to take on the Super Six — six laps, 10km, the marathon of swimming. Fleur's legs are unable to move in the water anymore, so every single stroke was powered with her arms alone💪 Fleur completed the swim in 4 hours 27, meaning she beat her target by 3 minutes and has raised an incredible amount for Shooting Star.

A huge congratulations Fleur, we're so proud🏊‍♀️

This week marks 🩵

This year's theme is , and we want to shine a light on one of our incredible cooks, Donna. Donna has been cooking delicious meals for children, families, staff and volunteers at our Guildford hospice for over 20 years, and recently obtained a Level 3 Certificate in General Patisserie and Confectionery.

Donna has been putting her new skills into practice, meaning there have been a multitude of delicious sweet treats for everyone at Christopher's to enjoy!

For families facing the unimaginable, having a home-cooked meal and a sweet treat ready and waiting can make all the difference. Thank you, Donna - you truly show how hospice care is 🙌⭐

This , we're celebrating two amazing corporate partners who have taken on epic challenges💪

Congratulations to team Dynamo Mortgages who took part in the London to Brighton Challenge, a gruelling 100km trek which took them from Beachy Head, over the magnificent Seven Sisters and along the South Downs Way and have raised an incredible £2,482.

And congratulations to RSL Awards who took on the South Coast Ultra Challenge, a tough 43k trek from Hove to Arundel and have raised an incredible £3,462.

Yesterday, we held our first National Child Death Summit. Thank you so much to our colleagues from children’s hospices, charities and our local and national partners, for coming together to understand what we can do together to reduce health inequalities in children’s palliative care.

Speaking after the event, our Director of Care, Lisa Dennis, said: “When a child dies suddenly, families are thrown into devastation and too often, they’re left to face it alone. We’ve proven that compassionate, expert care changes outcomes. Now it’s time to extend that care to every family. Don’t wait for another child to die suddenly. Join us — so no family is ever left behind.”

A huge congratulations to all our amazing Ealing Half Marathon runners, and a special thank you to Anna, who ran in memory of her daughter, Lydia, who was cared for by Shooting Star.

To mark Lydia's 18th birthday, Anna wanted to raise funds so that other families in the most devastating circumstances can receive the same love and care that her family did. So far, Anna has raised an incredible £5,380. Thank you, Anna!🩵

A fearless team of 13 “Kromies” from our long-standing supporters at Krome Technologies took on the ultimate challenge at the London South Tough Mudder last Saturday.

Together, they powered through muddy tunnels, conquered towering walls, plunged into icy water, and even braved electric shocks — all in the name of charity. Their grit and determination paid off, raising over £2,000 to support our vital work. We’re so grateful for their incredible effort, team spirit, and muddy smiles. Thank you!🩵

MP for Kingston and Surbiton and Leader of the Liberal Democrats, Ed Davey MP and the MP for Twickenham and Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Education, Children and Families, Munira Wilson MP were welcomed to Shooting Star House in Hampton on Thursday 18 September, to find out about the important care and support Shooting Star provides to families in their constituencies.

During the visit, Ed Davey and Munira Wilson, whose constituencies fall within our catchment area, met with families to hear first-hand about their experiences of using Shooting Star’s services and the vital lifeline we provide. They also took time to speak to members of our Shooting Star team to understand the care they provide, and to our Chief Executive, Paul Farthing, who shared the policy and funding challenges Shooting Star faces.
