Russell from one of our new corporate partners, Barratt Redrow, took on the North Downs 50km ultra challenge last weekend in aid of Shooting Star🙌

Russell finished the challenge in 11 hours and 45 minutes, took 73,631 steps, climbed 868m of elevation, and lost nearly 6lbs of weight despite taking on board 6 litres of fluid during the walk. What an epic challenge💪🩵

We’ve just held our Memory Days at Shooting Star House and Christopher’s. It was an honour to welcome 223 mums, dads, brothers, sisters and grandparents, joining together to remember and celebrate the lives of their children.

These were some of the largest memory days we have held, as our bereavement care grows to support more families referred after the death of their child.

We want to say a huge thank you to the many staff and volunteers who make sure these days are perfect for our families💙

Our latest Youth Connect weekend at Christopher’s was a joyful celebration, bringing together a group of inspiring young people for two days of fun, laughter and connection with peers.

The weekend kicked off with our young people personalising their space - creating colourful bunting and signs. They were given Instax cameras to capture their favourite moments and headed out shopping for the afternoon.

In the evening, the group had a special visit from gold-medal winning Paralympic cyclist, Lizzi Jordan MBE. Lizzi shared her incredible journey, from losing her sight to becoming a champion cyclist, and brought along her gold medal, which captivated everyone (especially Summer, who was reluctant to give it back!)

A great time was had by all, and a huge thank you to Lizzi for visiting us🩵

Shooting Star marked the month by having free Progress Pride Flag pin badges available across all of our sites - a small symbol with a big message. To go with our new badges, we also shared the powerful history and evolution of the flag through a vibrant display at Shooting Star House.

Pride is a celebration of love, identity, and the progress we’ve made, while recognising there’s still more to do. By wearing our badges loud and proud, we will continue to show our unwavering commitment to making sure every staff member, volunteer, and supported family feels seen, valued, and celebrated.
