What an unforgettable weekend we just had! I and some of the HKôre team ( and ) attended The Female Athlete course and it absolutely delivered. Incredible instructors and inspiring attendees.
I think my biggest feeling from the weekend was pride. Pride and affirmation that, as a Pilates studio, we really are blazing a new standard for other studios. We are all about empowering our members rather than imposing our opinions, experiences and beliefs on them.
This requires us to regularly challenge our long-held beliefs and teach in a way that naturally allows our clients to move fearlessly through experience, rather than holding them back by acting as their ‘gurus’.
Teaching evidence-based movement actually means the way we teach is much simpler, and it also requires us as teachers to answer your questions with “I don’t know” far more often than we like. This can sometimes make us feel quite alone in the Pilates sphere, but this course flipped that and made us feel like part of a growing movement.
The course was run by Antony Lo, a pelvic health and musculoskeletal physiotherapist. Firstly - whatta guy! Antony managed to make all the women in the room feel totally heard whilst imparting serious knowledge without ego. They say don’t meet your heroes, but I’m pretty pleased we did!
This course reminded us to be mindful of the impact our words can have. Whilst it’s always our goal to keep you safe, education like this allows us to do just that without holding you back.
Thank you so much for making our brains bigger! and
Holly xx
