Last Friday, we hosted our staff Christmas party in true 1920s and 1930s style, the perfect end to our 90th anniversary year! 🎉

Mount Alvernia Hospital was founded in 1935 and the party was a wonderful nod to the hospital's roots. Our staff definitely showed up for the occasion dressed in flapper dresses and headwear.

With a three-course meal, dancers and a DJ, a photobooth, and plenty of 1920s charm, we all had a wonderful night!

We want to extend our thanks to all the staff for making it such a special evening and for their dedicated work throughout the year, and to our Patient Administration Manager, Emily, who put so much effort into arranging the event.

Yesterday, we celebrated our staff Christmas dinner at Mount Alvernia Hospital!

Staff were invited for a delicious meal in the hospital restaurant free of charge and were served a three-course meal by the management team dressed in Christmas costumes!

It was a wonderful opportunity for colleagues from across the hospital to sit together, relax and look forward to the festive season.

A huge thank you to the Compass catering team for their hard work in cooking and decorating the restaurant. We would like to wish all our staff, patients, and visitors a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

“I had a very personable, professional, comprehensive and thorough health check. At no time did the process ever feel rushed, the handover from department to department was efficient and there was no time lag in between. The nurse was wonderful, warm and friendly, putting me at my ease from the start, explaining in detail all of the readings and what they meant An excellent experience from start to finish. I highly recommend Mount Alvernia Hospital.”

Mount Alvernia Hospital was founded in 1935 by a group of Franciscan Sisters, originally built as a small nursing home. 90 years on, the hospital has seen many developments, and we celebrated the 90th anniversary with a tea party.

Staff were invited to the hospital restaurant to enjoy a selection of cakes, sandwiches, and scones. We were pleased to be joined by some previous staff members and a group of the Franciscan Sisters who ran the hospital for over 50 years. For the staff unable to attend, a trolley toured the hospital with cakes, sandwiches, donuts, and scones.

It was a lovely celebration of our staff, past and present, and a time to reflect on Mount Alvernia’s 90-year legacy within the Guildford community.
