“Mindfulness practice, and the inner skills we cultivate though it, offers great potential to grow and nurture ourselves as we grow and nurture the next generation” Nancy Bardacke
MBCP is an innovative and comprehensive antenatal course which combines the traditional elements of an antenatal course with the opportunity to learn and practice mindfulness. Whilst the main focus of the MBCP course is

on pregnancy and birth, the course also presents an opportunity to think about the needs and wellbeing of the whole family. The MBCP course offers the opportunity to:

◦Meet other expectant parents
◦Learn how to cope with the emotional experience of pregnancy and birth
◦Regular mindfulness practice
◦Practice mindful movement / yoga
◦Learn about the stages of labour and birth
◦Discuss and practice mindfulness strategies for giving birth
◦CD’S and reading materials
◦Learn about and explore your own parenting approaches and communication skills

Developed by Nancy Bardacke, who is both an experienced midwife and mindfulness practitioner in the US, the course has only recently been introduced to expectant couples in the UK. The Oxford Mindfulness Centre (OMC) at the University of Oxford are at the forefront of carrying out research into the benefits of this course.

Mindfulness-Based Childbirth and Parenting (MBCP)
Class Dates: Sundays, 11 October - 13 December 2020
Class Times: 16:00 - 19:00 UTC (GMT)
Taught by Eluned Gold, MSc, RMN, PGCE

Join other expectant parents from all over the world for this 9-week live-online mindful birthing course. Learn to engage the mind to work with pain, fear, and anxiety during labor while increasing confidence and courage for the experience of labor and delivery.

Classes include the physiology of childbirth, ways to use the mind to work with pain during labor, positions for birthing, breastfeeding and parenting a newborn. As we actively cultivate mindfulness together we may find that we are able to more fully live the joys and more gracefully navigate the inevitable challenges of this life-transforming time while building a foundation and a lifelong resource for healthy living and wise parenting.

This course will be conducted both live using Zoom and in a virtual classroom space, where participants will have opportunities to converse with their classmates, share helpful materials, ask questions, and delve into pregnancy, parenting, and mindfulness resources throughout the duration of their 9-week class series – and beyond!

Greetings expectant parents and families,

Here at the Mindful Birthing and Parenting Foundation (MBPF) we understand that sheltering in place with your children, as wonderful as they might be, can at times be pretty stressful so we would like to offer a resource that you may find useful.

Since we know that meditation practice can be incredibly helpful for working with stress, anxiety, depression and fear, this may in fact be just the time to begin, restart or deepen your meditation practice. To this end, we invite you to explore our brief guided audio meditations available for download from the link below.

We have two albums to select from:

- Guided Meditations for Expectant Parents by Nancy Bardacke, founding director of the Mindfulness-Based Childbirth and Parenting program. The meditations include Awareness of Breathing, Mindful Yoga, Walking Meditation, & Being with Baby Practice.

- Mindfulness for Families by Eluned Gold, founder of the Nurturing Parents program and director of training at MBPF. The meditations include Seeds Of Kindness, Body Scan, and Awareness of Breath and Body.

These meditations are freely available for download with an option to make a donation to the MBPF.

a note to check in
a wave from a window
a makeshift home office
hair brushed out of a child’s eyes
calendars shifted
apologies spoken
condolences given
space provided
the “how are you”s
the ”I see you”s
tiny graces given
giant gifts received
prayers spoken without a sound
all the unseen acts of love
that made our world go around
what are some unseen acts of love that made your world go round today?
