๐๏ธ A week on from The Lakes Traverse and I thought I best do a report on the event! I say 'report' but I think it's more of a list of highlights/lowlights... that definitely cross over! No order, just some of the memories... who knows if they even really happened, especially in the latter stages ๐
๐ข The lady at honister pass that told Sophie that PAIN is TEMPORARY, which was true about the huge swelling on her knee! But then also listed everything she had that would help her (kt tape, strap, pain killers etc), but wouldn't give her any because it's a self supported event and that would be cheating ๐
๐ขThe mug of tea given to us at the finish
๐ขPatterdale
a. Jen crying on the toilet for nearly 45 minutes
b.Soph crying and nearly flipping the snacks table because there was no food she liked
c.The most incredible volunteer in the wooly hat that helped us to snap out of it
d.The lady that stood up and said 'I quit here last year and it's not happening again!' and off she trotted into the dark.... Very inspirational!
๐ข Chanting to myself SCI- A- TI- Ca in time with every step to Black Sail Pass
๐ข 80k deep, 1am, and heading up Kidsty Pike, whilst another runner explained all the term time dates for Sheffield - very informative
๐ข ALL the volunteers!
๐ข Counting out the correct change at the honesty box at the end of Haweswater at 5am - everything cost a pound, but working out the price for 2 Capri Suns was mind boggling
๐ข Spending the descent into Grasmere deciding what it felt like was being stabbed into my toe nails and finalising on: traditional letter opener being slid under the nail
๐ข 80% retention of toenails
๐ขLoosing my crisps that I was saving for 4am
๐ข Patching up Soph's feet and totally lying to her face, saying they looked fine when in fact they were sickening ๐คฎ
๐ข Running into Shap at sunrise ๐
