Evening all,

Recently I've had a few queries on what a typical RTT hypnotherapy session looks like. In short, every session is unique because each person is unique. When I came across this image, the power of its message evoked emotion in me. It says so much in so few words.

Often, clients come to me filled with emotion too because they regret not saying things to their loved ones when they had the chance. Or on the flip side of that, they regret saying something and didn't get the chance to rectify it.

Through hypnosis, there are techniques that can be used to release that emotion and offer the closure that so many clients often crave. Often I say to clients, our time may be limited, but our energy goes on- on some level, the words we want to say can still be heard, and felt, by the energy of those no longer with us.

Today's task- share those words, that you often think but never say, with someone you know or care about.

Many things can act as triggers- both positive and negative. When exposed to such things, our body responds as if we are going through the same experience again . In some cases, this can be quite traumatic.

Try using these affirmations to reassure your mind that what you are thinking is not you reliving the experience but reviewing it.

I've had a few inbox messages recently asking how long a hypnotherapy session is, on average, and how long it will take to see changes.

Most sessions last between 60-90 minutes.
In terms of seeing changes, that occurs after the very first session. However, it is a process and is reliant on a few factors:

1. Each client is given a personalised audio recording to listen to after the first session. I advise listening to this audio every evening for at least 21 days, as it takes the mind, on average, 21 days to form new beliefs/habits. Listening to the recording creates new neural pathways in the brain and helps facilitate positive/desired changes.

2. Change is also reliant on the client themselves wanting to change. If there are benefits to avoiding change, then the mind may be less willing to accept it. In technical terms, this is referred to as a secondary gain. Together, we can establish if there are any of these in place and work with the mind to overcome them.

3. On average, each client requires 3 sessions to overcome unwanted behaviours etc. To ensure that this is done gradually, each session is spaced out over a 3 week period. This not only gives the client the chance to reflect on the changes taking place, but it also allows me, as the therapist, to assess which techniques to use on the next session. Each session is tailored to the client- they're in control, I just guide them through the process.

Have you ever tried to justify someone else's behaviour? Perhaps internalised the blame? Or dismissed how it made you feel? Or maybe you feel stuck in the past- blaming yourself for a choice you made, that you wish you hadn't? I see this with many people who come to me as a client- often the result of this is to the client's own detriment.

The truth is, all feelings derive in the stomach- the seat of all emotion. You'd be surprised to learn that the stomach houses neurons, just like the brain, and the two are connected by one large nerve- the vagus nerve. This is often why people sometimes struggle between logical reactions-linked to the brain-and emotional responses from the gut.

Through hypnosis, responses from both the brain and stomach can be heard, seen, felt and balanced. Rather than working in conflict, the two can be calmed. Clarity can be achieved. Boundaries can be built. Self-forgiveness can be facilitated.

Often, clients come for a hypnotherapy session unaware of why they have certain emotions, behaviours, beliefs & fears.

However, when we review certain scenes, memories & events and ask the appropriate questions, it quickly becomes clear that all the answers and solutions already exist within the client themselves. Every client holds immense wisdom and power.

Ironically, all unwanted emotions, behaviours, beliefs & fears have the intention of keeping you safe. Each also has an intented role, function and purpose with your best interests at heart.

If you know better, you do better.

Many of us replay events that have happened over and over in our mind. We may not be physically in those situations anymore, but our mind percieves it as so because thoughts triggger emotions and physical responses.

Hypnotherapy allows you to gain closure on past events and move forward. Rather than reliving past events we can review them and recover.

If you always do what you've always done, you'll always have what you've always had!

The mind's role is to keep us safe and it likes what is familiar- routines, beliefs and behaviours that are predictable pose less of a risk, subconsciously. However, sometimes these things can also allow us to remain stagnant. Sometimes, it's necessary to say goodbye to the familiar, and hello to the new, in order to progress.

Sometimes it seems easier to bottle things up in a bid to ignore what is happening, to keep the peace & to avoid facing things that are difficult.
While, in the moment, it seems safer to do this, every emotion and unresolved issue can begin to present itself physically- illness, dis-ease and lack of sleep to name a few.

When we talk about our issues, our body no longer needs to speak for us.

It sounds strange to say, but during a hypnotherapy session seeing someone cry is a really positive outcome. Crying is the body's way of letting go of any pent up emotion that has been stored- releasing it through tears. In technical terms, this is referred to as an abreaction. Each time this happens, it's important to be empathetic and guide the client through the emotion.

Crying is brave. Crying is healing. Crying is positive change happening.

My day has been made hearing an update on another very deserving client!
With the permission of the client, and his mum, I'm absolutely thrilled to share this post.

After 3 personalised hypnotherapy sessions,10 years of having a phobia of bees and wasps, has been overcome in the most phenomenal way. Not only was the client able to hold a bee, but now he has the freedom to enjoy the garden and nature-this is just the start! I'm so very proud of him!
