This weekend we watched news unfold of a US-Israeli attack on Iran and an escalation of the ongoing violence, division, fear and pain in the Middle East. You or your child might be feeling confused, angry, scared, hopeless or even numb. Or you may be holding space for the reality that this conflict will mean different things for different people. For some children and parents - those feelings may be very real and intense. Especially if you have ties and connections to the region, fears about your loved ones safety, or have lived through the trauma of warfare before. With a backdrop of rising Islamophobia and Antisemitism, you may be feeling anxious about what this could mean for people living in the UK, who practice the same religion or look like you. For those of you without these connections, the news coverage, online conversation and far-reaching implications alone could feel hopeless or distressing.
It can be extremely hard to respond to frightening world events that are beyond our control. For now, please know you are not alone. And however you are feeling is valid. Check out our website for more advice on how to cope.
