SORRY we are CLOSED on Sunday 20th July ⭐️The Weekenders⭐️ is cancelled this week.

We are having a belated ‘30th’ and ‘See You Soon’ gathering for Meg Priestley who is soon to be leaving us to head back down south to start a new adventure.

We are meeting at Talking Tides, Marske at 1pm for beer, pizza and a whiskey (Megan’s tipple) if you would like to join us.

Megan has been with us since December 2023, she has been heavily involved in developing, shaping and delivering services, we are going to miss her more than she knows.

BUT it’s not good bye, it’s see you soon………..

🧠 Young Onset Dementia and LivDem 🧠

Did you know Jade, Specialist Dementia Nurse is a LivDem facilitator ⁉️

Yesterday, Jade attended an LivDem update: ‘Adapting LivDem For People Living With Young Onest Dementia’ to further extend her knowledge and skills.

❓What is young Onset Dementia ❓
Young Onset Dementia is any person under the age of 65 years of age who has been diagnosed with or living with dementia.

❓What is LivDem❓
LivDem course provides a supportive environment for people living with dementia to talk about their condition with other people in a similar position.

LivDem is based on underpinning research evidence that points towards improvements in self-esteem for people attending the course. Because of this, many people who come to the course are more able to talk about their illness openly.

LivDem courses provide both practical information about living with dementia alongside a supportive environment for people to share and express their concerns about their diagnosis.

The course runs over eight weeks and is only open to people living with dementia However, there are additional sessions before the course starts and after it ends, that family members and friends are invited to attend to help them to understand more about the course.

Topics covered on the course include practical tips such as how to use memory aids and keep active as well as support to manage emotions including stress and worry.

*Dementia is a complex condition and deserves specialist care and support

And just like that another FUN 🤩 Sunday Social aka ⭐️ The Weekenders ⭐️ over for the week

We got crafty with making bird boxes for the Treetastic Memory Tree 🌳

A fun game of ping pong challenge, it got very competitive when Megan decided to introduce double points 🔟8️⃣

A lovely lunch of oven baked potatoes served with rainbow salad, cheese, beans, tuna mayo, ham, beetroot, coleslaw and pickles 🥒

We caught up on gossip, shared what we had been up to over the last week or so 🗓️

We cooled down with a waffle cone filled with raspberry ripple ice cream, raspberry sauce and a flake 🍦

We enjoyed tea / coffee with a slice of homemade strawberry angel cake 🧁

⭐️Plus activities, advice, information and support, Jade - Specialist Dementia Nurse is available for clinical and specialist advice, support and information.

⭐️ And MEGAN is joining for arts and well-being on the patio, bring your suncream and sun hat.
