🎉✨ Exciting News from Slate & Grain! ✨🎉

We’re absolutely thrilled to share that Slate & Grain Brasserie has been shortlisted for the ARTA (Asian Restaurants & Takeaway Awards) – Regional Restaurant of the Year (Surrey)! 🙌🍴

And that’s not all… our amazing chef Harrish has just competed in the Chef of the Year Cook-Off in Cambridge, where 17 chefs from across the UK cooked their hearts out. 👨‍🍳🔥

His creations – Chettinadu Prawns 🦐🌶️ and Malabar Lamb 🍖🥥 – looked and tasted like winners (though we might be a little biased 😉).

We’ll find out the results at the Gala Dinner in London on 6th October. Until then, fingers crossed 🤞 for Harrish and the whole Slate & Grain team!

🎨🐾 Another Amazing Button Club Session at Button House! 🥂🎶

We had a fantastic art evening this Friday with our wonderful Orshina—another brilliant Button Club session that brought creativity, colour, and community together once again.

This time, our theme was “Animals from Our Lives”, painted in the bold and vibrant Matisse style. Henri Matisse, a French artist known for his expressive use of colour and shape, believed in art that uplifted the soul—something we certainly embraced during this joyful session! 🇫🇷🎨

Our Hobby Room was packed with residents fully immersed in their artwork—just take a look at the attached photos to see the creativity flowing and the stunning finished pieces. Absolutely well done to everyone involved—you’ve created some truly meaningful masterpieces! 🖌️🐶🐱🦜

The evening had a lovely touch of elegance too—with a glass of Prosecco, live music, and even a homemade lemon cake baked by our lovely resident Jean—thank you, Jean, it was delicious! 🍰🍋

A big thank you to Orshina for her continued inspiration, and to Christie from our Sales Team who helped organise and was on hand throughout the event. 🌟

🏆 Chef Harish Brings Home the Gold! 🏆

What a proud moment for all of us at Slate & Grain Brasserie! Our incredibly talented Chef Harish Suresh attended the UK Curry Championship today—where over 80 of the UK’s top chefs cooked their hearts out in a fierce battle to be crowned the best of the best. 💥🍛

Harish impressed the judges with two show-stopping dishes:
🔥 Calicut Meen Kuzhambu with Potato Varuval — his inspired take on a traditional South Indian fish curry
🔥 Chettinad Lamb Chops with Summer Melon Salad

And guess what? He’s coming home to Button House with a GOLD medal! 🥇
We’re beyond proud and can’t wait to welcome him back and celebrate this fantastic achievement.

Even more exciting—Harish is planning to bring these award-winning dishes to our brand-new Chef’s Specials menu. So yes, you’ll be able to taste what took the crown! 🤤

🦋 A Beautiful Button Club Session: The Art of Transformation 🎨✨

Our latest Button Club session with the wonderful Orshina was nothing short of magical. This time, our residents painted stunning butterflies, embracing the beauty of transformation and change. 🦋💙

We took a moment of silence—five minutes of quiet reflection—to connect with our own feelings before bringing them to life on canvas. 🎶 Accompanied by the breathtaking sounds of Ennio Morricone’s concert from Venice, we immersed ourselves in creativity, emotion, and mindfulness.

We also spoke about the metamorphosis of the butterfly and what it symbolises: growth, change, and the beauty of embracing life’s transitions. Just like a butterfly, we all evolve in our own time and in our own way.

To quote Nathaniel Hawthorne:
“Happiness is a butterfly,
which when pursued, is
always just beyond your grasp,
but which, if you will sit down quietly,
may alight upon you.”
