FALLS AWARENESS WEEK!
Today’s Falls Prevention Tip of the Day is to Think About Your Medication.

As well as taking your medication as prescribed, ensuring that you are getting the best health outcomes from your medication is also important.

One way of checking this is by requesting a medication review, especially if you are taking a lot of different medication at once, or if you are struggling to manage your medication. Check if you or a loved one may be eligible for a review here: www.eastlothian.gov.uk/medicinereview

Falls are more common than you might think - but the good news is, many can be prevented with simple steps.

From small changes at home, to regular movement, to keeping up with eye tests, there are lots of ways to stay safe and independent.
Falls Prevention Week is the perfect time to check in on yourself or a loved one.

Could you:
👟 Make sure footwear is safe and supportive?
👀 Book that overdue eye test?
💊 Review medications with a health professional?

It’s never too late to take action. Together, we can all lower the risk of falls and keep enjoying the activities we love.

As part of Falls Awareness Week we are thrilled to be doing a Walking or Daily Living Aid Amnesty.

Perhaps you broke your leg a few years ago and needed crutches for a short while but they’re now cluttering up the garage. Or maybe you have a trolley that you no longer use to walk with and has ended up becoming a plant pot stand or bookcase?

Whatever NHS or council provided walking / daily living aid it is that you no longer need, we would love to have it back. 🙂 That way we can get it refurbished and then issued out to those who now need it, plus it frees up a bit of valuable space in your home!

Head along to any of the East Lothian Council recycling centres between 15th-21st September to drop them off and then we’ll do the rest.

Check out www.eastlothian.gov.uk/directory/10061/recycling_centres for details of the recycling centre locations and opening hours.
