The Rise in Men Seeking Therapy & Why Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy Is a Great Fit
Hi everyone,
I’ve seen a powerful shift over the past two months – my client base which was historically been female focused has moved from 14% male to 83% male. That’s right 5 out of every 6 clients are now male and the trend seems to be continuing with 3 out of my last 4 initial consultations being for men too.
The age range is 40 – 75 and there are a range of occupations from electricians to financial directors to retired men.
More men are stepping into therapy—and it’s about time we celebrated that. The era of “strong men don’t talk” is finally giving way to men prioritising mental health, and the difference is already being felt.
Here’s what the data tells us:
🇬🇧 In the UK, about 29% of men have had therapy at some point, with 28% doing so in the past year—so nearly one-third are reaching out for help (BACP)
🌎 Globally, 95% of men now say mental health is a priority, fuelling a booming $90 billion self-care industry for men (Global Wellness Institute)
🙋♂️ It's now vogue—2025 is being dubbed “therapy bro summer”, where emotional growth is seen as modern masculinity… and yes, therapy is even a “green flag” on the dating scene (New York Post)
So, what are men usually hoping to tackle in therapy? Male clients come to see me for help with anxiety, relationship issues, substance abuse, depression and confidence issues.
Where Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) fits in beautifully:
This isn’t your regular “dive into past trauma” type of therapy. SFH is all about the future—what you want to achieve—and it works fast.
Here’s why it’s especially powerful:
🖤 Clear goals & quick results – instead of talking for hours, we focus on what you want to change and how to get there step by step.
🖤 No need to dig into feelings or the past – you don’t have to talk about old memories or painful stuff; we look forward, not back.
🖤 Brain science support – SFH uses hypnosis and proven techniques that help the brain think more positively and feel calmer.
🖤 Teamwork & confidence – we build on what you’re already good at, so you feel in charge of shaping your future instead of stuck in the past.
🖤 Chilled but focused – relaxation (trance) helps your mind take in new, helpful ways of thinking more quickly, while you always stay in control.
🖤 It really works – studies show this type of therapy helps lots of people and often takes fewer sessions than other therapies.
In summary, men are increasingly choosing emotional health, driven by changing cultural norms and rising awareness. SFH matches that momentum—offering a forward-looking, efficient, and evidence-based approach. It helps men feel heard, empowered, and in control of their path forward.
