Full body burn tonight 🔥
A strong mix of control, strength and mobility— because Pilates isn’t just about the core, it’s about how your whole body moves and functions.

We worked through bridging with variations, breast stroke prep with variations, hip abduction and hip mobility work and finished with some hundreds!

If you’ve been thinking about joining, come and move with us 💛

A little snippet of some self practice and prep for tonight’s class ✨ 🌺

We’re going to be working through scissors, overhead reach, side plank with clam, and oblique prep - each one targeting deep stability, control, and alignment.

These aren’t just “ab exercises”… they’re building the foundation for how your body moves, supports your spine, and prevents injury.

Which move do you find toughest? 💪🏽

Don’t forget it’s not too late to book on tonight‘s class and we run every Wednesday In Hadleigh, Essex https://bookwhen.com/jrphysioledpilates 💙

At JR Pilates we may not have flashy equipment or a state of the art location BUT you do not need any of that to improve your strength, your control and create quality movement in a way that is safe and purposeful.

I am confident that we have built a safe space to exercise where there is no judgement, no question is silly and there are no expectations!

At each class we ensure every member is completing the exercises safely, is given feedback throughout the class and feels confident they are completing the exercise correctly which is why in the video I am not on my mat after demonstrating the exercise. This video is our whole class after the warm up… but sped up of course!

At JR Pilates we run physio-led sessions which are guided by clinical knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics and injury rehabilitation. This means exercises are selected not just for fitness but to:
• Improve core strength and deep stabilising muscles
• Correct movement patterns and posture
• Reduce pain and prevent injury
• Support recovery from injury or surgery
• Improve flexibility and joint mobility
• Enhance balance and coordination
• Build long-term resilience in the body

✨ Warm up with us ✨
At the beginning of each class, we ALWAYS warm up for between 10-15 minutes. A warm-up isn’t just “getting hot”, it prepares the body and nervous system for movement. During a warm up we:
* Activate the muscles we are going to use throughout the session
* In turn this increases blood flow to the muscles and primes the nervous system
* We work through our range of movement at most joints
* Enhance coordination and movement control
* Improve performance in the session that follows
* Reduce the risk of any injury or flare up to current injury

Because our classes are led by a qualified physiotherapist, we can adapt the exercises to those with injury or illness. However, we welcome anyone of any ability as the class can be tailored to individuals and we give a variety of options throughout the class to make it easier or harder.

We have spaces at our next class which is Wednesday 4th March at 7:30pm. Please DM me to book or email me on jrpilates@yahoo.com.

P.S. This video is just over 10 minutes into 10 seconds!

A little preview of tomorrow’s physiotherapy-led Pilates class ✨

The class isn’t just about what you do in the room — it’s about giving you the tools to move better outside of it too.
We focus on understanding your body, improving technique, and learning exercises you can safely practise on your own between sessions.

Building consistency through self-practice is where real strength, confidence and long-term change happens 🤍

We love switching it up in JR Pilates classes✨

Heres a little snippet from something a little different in our physio-led pilates class this week 🤍
We brought out the Pilates balls and took the work into standing focus in on balance, ankle stability, pelvic control and functional strength! Standing work is just as effective… and I’m sure your glutes definitely agreed 🔥

Our next class is Wednesday 11th February - don’t forget to book your spot to avoid disappointment due to limited availability 📞

The Clam | Physio-Led Pilates

The clam may look simple, but when performed correctly it’s a powerful exercise for hip stability and pelvic control.

✨ Why we use it in Physio led Pilates:
• Activates gluteus medius & minimus
• Supports pelvic and lumbar stability
• Improves hip control for walking, running & single-leg tasks
• Commonly used in rehab for low back pain, hip pain & knee pain

🧠 Key technique cues:
✔ Side-lying, hips stacked and spine neutral
✔ Engage deep core before moving
✔ Keep feet together, open from the hip (not the lower back)
✔ Slow, controlled movement — quality over range
✔ Avoid rolling the pelvis backwards

🔄 Progressions:
• Add band resistance
• Try adding leg extension (as in the video)
• Try adding reverse clam (as in the video)

This is a staple in my Physio-led Pilates classes, ensuring movements are purposeful, controlled, and safe for all abilities.
