Just In case you have missed the last post

Our Home Manager, Rui Santos, is lacing up his running shoes once again this year as he takes part in the Eastbourne Half Marathon to raise funds for St Wilfrid’s Hospice. 🏃‍♂️💙

This charity holds a special place not only in Rui’s heart, but also in the hearts of many of our residents. With that in mind, Rui is giving it his all and has added the Eastbourne Half Marathon to his growing list of charity runs.

As he shared:
“It’s a great hospice helping our Nursing home on many occasions. I know some of the residents here at Hailsham House would love to take part, so I decided to do it for them. So, it’s not just me running on the 8th of March… it’s the residents as well.”

We’re incredibly proud of Rui for representing the spirit, strength, and community of Hailsham House. ❤️

Throwback to this Thursday!

Our residents enjoyed a lovely trip out to Tottingworth Farm Shop & Café.
While sipping on hot chocolates and cups of tea, they gazed out the windows in amazement as the farm bustled with activity. From farm hands tending to the animals in the fields to machinery moving hay bales, there was so much to see!

Inside the shop, residents were fascinated by the impressive display of sashes won from across the country for their prized heifers and sheep, proudly hanging above the till with pride.

It was such a fun outing and the residents are already asking to go back in the summer! 🌞🐑🚜

Connections that spark meaningful relationships between carer and resident. ❤️

It’s the little moments shared smiles, gentle conversations, and quiet companionship that build trust and brighten each day here at Hailsham House.

Our residents love having hand massages and manicures. It’s one of the special ways bonds are formed, with gentle care that grows into something wonderful, treasured by both resident and carer.

As nails are painted in soft colours, sometimes with a little added pattern, residents relax, open up, and conversations begin to flow naturally. It’s in these calm, joyful moments that true connection happens and bonds are created.

Hailsham House residents went on a lovely trip out this month, did you see them?? 👀💛

They visited Staverton Garden Centre in Halland, where they explored a wonderful range of flowers and plants. 🌸🪴

All the colours and scents sparked cheerful conversations about what they’d love to grow in our own grounds, while they sipped on hot and cold drinks in the café.

Lucy, one of our residents, shared with a shining smile:
“Oh, I do love sweet peas. I think we should grow them — or at least give it a go!”
Well Lucy… your wish is our command! 🌱✨
Sweet peas will be growing at Hailsham House this year.

We’re incredibly proud to be official sponsors of Exercise For All’s brand‑new uniform. Matt and his team do outstanding work, and partnering with them is a privilege. Their dedication, energy, and commitment to improving wellbeing make them the perfect team to stand beside.

They’ve also made a fantastic addition to our activities team both teams learning from one another, sharing ideas, and working together to make everyday life for our residents that little bit more special.

With the Olympics starting this week, our residents have been hard at work creating their very own Olympic sign for the upcoming Hailsham House Games! 🏅✨

With a splash of vision, a smear of creativity, and a generous sprinkling of cups of tea, residents and staff got to work painting the Olympic rings.

While the paint dried before being assembled together to complete the residents creation, residents chatted away about which sports they’re most excited to watch and. 🖌️☕💬

Last week we had the pleasure of welcoming Steve Shappelle and his fluffy four‑legged companion Sophie to Hailsham House. 🐾💛

Steve gave our residents, staff and their loved ones a truly wonderful comedic performance that had everyone laughing and reminiscing about times gone by.

We were even treated to a fantastic selection of live songs sung by Steve himself everything from musical favourites like The Sound of Music to wartime classics such as It’s a Long Way to Tipperary. 🎶

You really had to be there to see the joy and energy Steve brought into the home. A heartfelt thank you to Steve and Sophie for such a memorable afternoon!

📣📣Throwback to this past Friday! 📣📣

🥐🥐It was National Croissant Day, and our residents rolled up their sleeves to create their very own croissant sandwiches. 🥐🥐

With laughter and chatter filling the air, with a sprinkling of 1950s music playing the room came alive with the aroma of freshly baked golden pastry, gooey cheese, and warm ham.

Residents and staff enjoyed their creations with a lovely cup of tea… and what a treat it was!

With the weather wet, windy and rainy today, our residents stayed cosy indoors, knitting away while Elvis Presley played in the background. The room was full of chatter as everyone compared their projects, shared tips, and guided each other through tricky stitches.

Before long, the knitting needles were clicking in time with their favourite songs, and of course no knitting session would be complete without plenty of tea and biscuits.

What a lovely morning spent together.

📣Just a reminder📣

Tomorrow Hailsham House will be holding their private fireworks display for their residents. The display won't be too long but it will be loud, and we would like to give you a heads up that if you have any pets please bring them inside so they don't get to scare if they are out on their evening adventures.

The residents are very much looking forward to this and they hope that you will enjoy the display if you can see them from your home too.
