A lovely maintenance/ Pre-event treatment on the beautiful ‘Allegra’. Allegra is getting ready for a very important dressage competition at the nationals in a few weeks time. This means feeling well both mentally and physically is paramount!

Good luck Allegra!!!

𝐓𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐓𝐢𝐩 - 𝐌𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐇𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞'𝐬 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤 & 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐤

Walk is an a effective way to mobilise the back - here are 4 ways to improve the walk and increase back rotation.

𝟏. 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐬
This can be a single pole or a series of poles. This is a great exercise to maintain mobility, improve core stability & posture. There are so many benefits.
Set up some poles on the way to the arena, or field so you can walk your horse over them everyday.

𝟐. 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫
A similar effect to walking over poles, but your horse doesn't have to think about where he's putting his feet but still has to lift his legs.

𝟑. 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐥
You can feel the rotation in your horse's back through your seat. If you can find a consistent slope - try walking your horse across the slope too.

𝟒. 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐩
A great exercise that has lots of benefits. Aim for long steps with the head and neck low for maximum benefit. Start off with just a few steps and build up.

I hope everyone’s had a wonderful weekend that involved lots of time with our four legged friends. My son, Luna and myself went on an adventure around our farm and had a great time picking blackberries to share with each other 🥰🐴🐎🏡

Fun Fact of the week 🤔 💭

Canter is the only gait where the horse rocks from the hindquarters to the forehand.

This rocking movement helps to strengthen the thoracic sling muscles, its most important for supporting the forehand between the front legs.

July spaces available, please pop me a message to speak about how your horse would benefit from massage!

No Equine too small to qualify for a treatment. Here is little 2 year old Pumpkin who’s not even 7hh, although is pretty sure he’s 17hh when playing and running around with his friends in the field! A tailored sports massage specifically to your horses individual needs.

We all need TLC, why not book your horse in to have a treatment, I promise they will thank you for it! 🐎🐴 🥰

Luna demonstrating a release whilst having her hamstrings worked on 🥱🐎🥰

Luna is my own 13 year old Connemara pony who is in light to moderate work now and her work varies from hacking and plodding along with my 3 year old son, to having a jump with more experienced riders.

🔔 Remember Massage is maintenance and helps encourage the very best well being and performance from your equine partner.
