"She is 15 & has been out of school for a while. Since working with the ponies her confidence has grown, she is slowly returning to school & life is much better".

Welcome to East Sussex Equine Therapy

East Sussex Equine Therapy was inspired by Louie a young man who at the moment finds life stressful and frustrating.
However when he works with the horses he is calm and happy and life is fun.

Equine assisted therapy has been known to be effective in enhancing emotional, social, physical, cognitive, behavioural and education skills of people with various needs by providing a different kind of neuro stimulation.
The ancient Greeks in the 17th century have been known to first use horses as a therapeutic medium to treat persons with neurological disorder, low morale and gout.
Sessions are, Individually planned and we cater for Children , young people and adults of all ages.

All of our sessions are focused around the child, young person or adult with whom we are working, and their individual goals, skills, levels of mobility and communication preference. Our facilitators have experience of working with people with physical and sensory impairments and complex needs as well as people with learning disabilities, autism, ADHD and behaviour considered challenging. The contents of sessions is flexible so that we can adjust them to fit the person, how they feel that day and what they would like to achieve.
Therapeutic horsemanship benefits a wide range of adults and children, including those with behavioural challenges, mental health problems and learning difficulties. It helps to improve mental and physical well being and social skills.
It is also beneficial for anyone looking for a new way to improve confidence and self-awareness, or for a relaxing break from routine.

At East Sussex Equine Therapy the focus is on building a trusting partnership between horse and human.
