Massage = foot care hack!

Dedicating just 7-10 mins per evening will do a LOT, follow this easy massage routine & try to see it through next month. Report back to us on the improvements at the end of June, we are confident you’ll see and feel many!

Step 1: Hold your foot with one hand and pull your toes away from the toe joints, repeat this for all toes.

Step 2: Bend your lesser toes and big toe in opposite directions, as far as you can, making sure your lesser toes are flattened for full lengthening of the extensors.

Step 3: Stabilise your foot and with your other hand, pull your big toe away from your 2nd toe.

Step 4: Pull out your big toe and gently rotate the toe to decompress the joint.

Step 5-6: Get as many fingers you a between your toes, starting with the 1st and 2nd toe, then gently move your toes in a circular motion.

Incorporate this structured routine into your daily schedule, dedicating both morning and evening sessions to this essential practice.

Witness the immediate benefits as you experience improved toe connection and activity, which can have a positive impact on your overall posture and gait.

🦶 Why I Take a Full Medical History Before Your Foot Health Treatment 🦶

Before every treatment, I take time to complete a full medical history — and there’s a very good reason for it!

Your general health, medications, and any existing conditions can all affect your feet, skin, and nails — as well as how they respond to treatment. For example:
✨ Some medications can make the skin thinner or nails more fragile
✨ Circulatory issues or diabetes may affect healing time
✨ Allergies help me choose the safest products for your care

Taking this information helps me provide safe, personalised, and effective treatment every time — and ensures your comfort and wellbeing come first. 💚

Your health and safety are always my top priority.

Even a small 10° inward lean of can affect you!

When the big toe drifts inward, it alters the natural line of force through your foot. This affects:

1️⃣ The medial arch - reducing its ability to absorb load
2️⃣ Your walking gait - changing push-off mechanics
3️⃣ And even your knees and hips - as your body compensates up the chain

📚 What the research says:

The Framingham Foot Study found that people with hallux valgus/ bunions had reduced pressure under the big toe and increased loading on the midfoot and lesser toes — altering how force moves through the foot during walking.

Another study in older adults (J Foot Ankle Res, 2017) found that greater big toe angle was linked to lower arch height, weaker toe strength, and poorer balance and gait.

These are not just cosmetic changes - they affect function. Small misalignments can lead to big problems over time.

The good news? This is trainable.
Through daily foot training, toe alignment aids such as spacers and the right footwear, many people see significant improvements in pain, posture, and performance.

Grab your Toe Spacer Kit & get to fixing those feet, your entire body will thank you for it!

Flat Feet - can they be improved?

Traditional methods seem to be overprescribed & focus more on relief rather than improving function. Here are just some changes you can make.

1. Toe Spacers:
Positioning the big toe correctly can help stimulate the arch, this can be seen first hand when individuals begin wearing spacers.

2. Exercise:
Foot-specific exercises can strengthen the muscles that support the arch, reducing strain and helping the foot function better.

3. Footwear:
Proper footwear is crucial for ensuring that your foot maintains a natural position and doesn’t restrict movement. The “shoe bed test” whilst wearing spacers will allow you to discover if the shoes hinder or heal your feet.

The combination of toe spacers, strengthening exercises, and appropriate footwear aligns with several evidence-based studies that support improving foot function and managing flat feet.

These interventions aim to relieve pain, enhance alignment, and stimulate the natural arches of the feet.

📚 Supporting Science:

A study from the Journal of Foot and Ankle Research found that toe spacers help reposition the toes, leading to improved alignment and reduced pain.

Research in the Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy shows that foot exercises targeting foot strength and mobility can significantly improve flat feet and reduce discomfort.

🌟 Foot Health Tips of the Day! 🌟

👣 Healthy Heels, Happy Soles 👣

Taking care of your feet is essential for your overall well-being! Here are a few simple tips to keep your feet happy:

🦶Wear Comfortable Shoes: Make sure your shoes provide proper support and cushioning. Ill-fitting shoes can lead to long-term foot problems.

🦶Stretch & Strengthen: Regularly stretch your feet and ankles to improve flexibility and prevent injuries.

🦶Moisturize: Dry, cracked heels are not only painful, but they can also lead to infections. Keep your feet hydrated with a good moisturizer.

🦶Practice Foot Hygiene: Wash your feet daily, dry them thoroughly (especially between the toes), and wear socks that allow your feet to breathe.

🦶Don’t Ignore Pain: If you feel persistent foot pain, don't wait! It’s important to seek professional advice before it turns into a bigger problem.

How’s your toe mobility?

Most health and fitness professionals overlook the importance of proper foot and toe function. Yet, these areas—hidden away in our shoes—play a crucial role in our overall movement and well-being.

Think about it: our feet are as intricate and vital as our hands, yet we often confine them to rigid, sensory-deprived environments—similar to wearing mittens on our hands all day. Is it any wonder then that foot dysfunction is so common?

Take the big toe, for instance. It’s the driver of our foot’s mechanics, yet it often doesn’t receive the extension stress it needs due to our footwear choices. This can contribute to issues like plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, and anterior hip pain.

If you are experiencing these problems, consider the role of the big toe in their condition. Let’s take a step toward healthier, happier feet!

The illustration simply highlights the ideal range of motion, although the range of motion in the top, is hard to reach, it should be a good guideline and something we ALL had from childhood 😊

45° and above is an ideal range of motion in our toes, anything under this should have daily mobility drills applied to improve range of motion.

Have a great weekend
