Call me a**l, but it’s my absolute bugbear when I see fellow pros calling it ‘lazer’ 😩
I’m not judging anyone’s spelling ability here, but as you can see from this post, it’s simply incorrect. It’s not a regional spelling difference, like when Americans sometimes use a Z instead of an S, it’s just fundamentally wrong.
And I’ll be honest, it might not be totally their fault.
There’s a lot of poor education in this industry. Many laser providers complete only a half-day course focused on operating the machine, with little or no theory covering the biology and physics that are critical for safe, effective treatments.
So there’s a good chance that the fact the word laser is an acronym might not have even been covered.
But this inadequate training is why you see poor results, 20 treatments in and you’re still hairy, or even worse, skin damage.
I have spent a lot of time and money on training to the highest level available. I’m confident in my knowledge, treatments and the results I get for my clients.
Spelling mistakes happen and not everyone is good at spelling, I totally get that. It’s not like I’m perfect or have an English degree or anything.
But accuracy in technical terminology is important. It’s the least we can do to show that we are professionals who know our s**t.
These are Class 4 medical lasers that we are using, after all.
So it does leave me wondering, if someone is so blasé or inadequately educated to spell laser incorrectly (and BTW, autocorrect won’t actually let me type ‘lazer’, so they’re fighting it to do so 🤣), then what else are they blasé or inadequately educated about.
Laser is serious stuff and should be treated as such!
