We are deeply saddened to share the news that Dr Thampiah Vamadevan has passed away.

Dr Vamadevan dedicated decades of his life to caring for patients in our community. He worked as a General Practitioner at Long Lane Surgery and assisted with moving the surgery to Clement Road Surgery, where he was greatly respected and valued by patients and colleagues alike.

He will be remembered for his professionalism, compassion, and long-standing commitment to patient care.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Dr Vamadevan’s family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with him during this difficult time.

Update regarding Primary Care Prescribing:

From 23 June 2025, access to the medication tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) is beginning in England for a small number of patients living with obesity who are at the highest risk of serious health conditions.

In the Black Country, new community-based weight management services are currently being developed to support safe and effective access to this treatment, this means GPs are not yet able to prescribe tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) for weight management in this area.

If you wishes to express disappointment that there is not yet a service in place for the whole of the black country, please direct them to the ICB complaints inbox – bcicb.time2talk@nhs.net
